Hi,
I'm getting tired of using my old BLS-Envoy deck so much. It's really the only deck I've ever used. I'm interested in making a dark magician deck now. Can someone help me figure out what cards I need? I'm not sure if there are many different types of dark magician decks, but currently I'm kind of interested in a Dark Paladin-ish deck.
Well, for now, cards that work specifically for Dark Magician:
Sage's Stone
Knight's Title
Dark Magician Knight
Dark Sage
Dedication through Light and Darkness + DMOC
Dark Magician Girl
Dark Magic Attack
Skilled Dark Magician
Tribute Doll (not specifically, but DM fits the bill)
Dark Paladin
Sorcerer of Dark Magic
Thousand Knives
Diffusion Wave Motion
Dark Flare Knight + Mirage Knight
Book of Secret Arts
So if worked properly, these support cards and whatever else you want can make a DM deck very effective. But of course, DM can actually becaome many different decks (Dark Paladin, Sorcerer of Dark Magic, DM Girl beatdown), so keep that in mind. And since you want Dark Paladin help, check this section for Dark Paladin tactics.
Drop Buster Blader - He's useless. You can summon Paladin through Fusion subs, so stacking your deck with multiple Level 7 monsters is dangerous.
Use the power of Fusion Subs - The best Fusion Sub in the game is "King of the Swamp". But you can run multiple Fusion Subs, just to be safe.
Use the Fiends! - Use Sangan's effect to get Sinister Serpent as soon as possible in the duel. However, nothing will save your Spellcaster deck's butt more often than 2 Fiends. 2 Night Assailant's make you Paladin have infinite ammo to negate Spell Cards.
And while we're on the subject, you'll need a weapon - Wicked Breaking Flamberge - Baou is Dark Paladin's BEST weapon. Without any Dragons in the GY, it'll raise his ATK to 3400, allow him to negate monster effects. With his natural ability to negate Spell cards, and Wicked Breaking Flamberge - Baou's ability to negate monster effects, your opponent's options will be VERY limited.
Dark Magician Girl? Pfft! - DMG is corny to actually USE unless you're facing another DM deck. But run her for 2 reasons. Sage's Stone and Metamorphosis. Sage's Stone let's DMG Special Summon Dark Magician from your deck. Metamorphosis allows her to transform into Ryu Senshi, who can negate Traps while Dark Paladin negates Spell cards.
Magician of Faith/Apprentice Magician/Hand of Nephthys - Use Apprentice Magician's effect to it's fullest. Meaning, flip, normal and Special Summon it as much as possible to give your Spell Counter cards some Spell Counters, or to SS Magician of Faith facedown to flip and get back those Spell cards or to SS Hand of Nephthys to summon Phoenix next turn.
Get some Dragons - Run some Dragon searchers, like Masked Dragon asnd some Standard Dragons like Spear Dragon (for Beatdown purposes) and Twin Headed Behemoth (who is great tribute fodder for DMG). After all is said and done, Dark Paladin's ATK will be sky high. And to add some LIGHT and Dragons to your Spellcaster deck, run Summoner of Illusions in your main deck and Fiend Skull Dragon in your fusion deck. FSD negates ALL effects of Fliip Effect monsters. And if you summon him with the effect of Summoner of Illusions, he'll stay on the field after the End Phase.
Since you'll be running Spellcasters, try some Chaos Sorcerers. No real downside to it. Easy to summon level 6 Spellcasters means either easy Ryu Senshis (who'll, again, negate traps while Paladin negates Spells) or easy to summon Sorcerer of Dark Magic. They have nice Monster removal and fairly high ATK (2300).
Run Interdimensional Matter Transporter - In case of Emergency, it'll save your Dark Paladin or Sorcerer of DM from certain destruction as well as save you from a LOT of situations.
