Guide to North American and European Indy HeroClix!
Guide to North American and European Indy HeroClix! by Jason Mical, HeroClix Community Coordinator
As many of you have heard, the Indy HeroClix set available in North America differs from the Indy HeroClix set available in Europe. The European set emphasizes characters in the 2000 AD comics line, including the complete set of Dark Judges, while the North American set emphasizes characters more popular in the United States, such as Shi and Boon.
At this time, the sets are not available in their opposite markets, although WizKids encourages trading between North America and Europe. Each set is differentiated by its packaging: the Starter Sets and Booster Packs for the North American release have red backgrounds, and those of the European release have gray backgrounds.
Both sets contain 96 characters, 12 of which are Uniques. The Uniques and all Limited Edition figures are identical for both sets. The difference is that the North American set contains characters 37 through 60 (8 characters with 3 different versions of each character), and stops at character 96. The European set continues with characters 97 through 120, and does not contain figures 37 through 60.
The North American–only characters are Arwyn (REV version), Boon, Bron, Natalia Kassle, Major Maxim, Ian Nottingham, Shi, and The Darkness. The European-only characters are Brit City Judge, Judge Fear, Judge Fire, Judge Mortis, Nemesis, Wulf Sternhammer, Stix, and Torquemada.
And? So?
It makes sense that there would be different characters in the two sets. No one in Europe (or most of North America, for that matter) gives a flip about CrossGen. Conversely, many younger gamers (I'm 33 so I don't count) don't know who the hell Judge Dredd is. So you're all upset. You'll get over it. I'm sure the 2000 AD figs won't be that hard to track down. Ebay alone will make it easy to do. There have also been rumbles about a way to swap figures or buy a set outright from Wizkids at a later date. Maybe that got nixed, but never mind about that. Judge Dredd will not be the most difficult figure to get.
Let's see how well or poorly this sells before we all start promising to boycott the "next set." Sheesh. Now, if anyone wants to do some trading for Hellboy figs, PM me!
