well after playtesting today, I have been pondering the best ways to build my deck to use its hand effectivly, get a drawing engine, hand advantage with my opponent, and most importantly, not get dead draws.
so I have found (at least in my soul control build) that a high monster ration with many defensive magocs and traps. I am still trying to get the ratios just right (tried with a 50mon/50ST ratio before but got dead draws about 1/6 times) and have had problems drawing 4 star or spec summon when it is needed, and not alot of defense.
well for a drawing engine I am using Royal magical library, cause it seems that unless it is DDW or DDWL or something stupid, it should last a few turns thus creating feild advantage with a slight drawing engine with RML text. Also I use airknight cause of the reaper/don/DD whatever out there as a semi draw engine and trample damage.
For my Hand advantage over my opponent I am using dons and reapers, plus a robbin goblin. I am using dons and reapers the way they should be used with reaper being used more defensivly for feild presence, robbin goblin has come is use alot due to high attackers, and the influx of 1700 or less monsters (namlely dons reaps, DD family) it makes people think just a bit more before attacking. Oh and there is confiscation, but hey its always there.
So far I get great draws, but after I use my hand bout turn 3-4 I have problems getting past the dead card hands (pre- changes listed above, but testing is in the way) so I will post more on my results as I get more time and playtesting.

One of the best ways to get card advantage is by using Airkniht Parshath with Robbin Goblin. Also, a good way to no get dead draws is to have a couple good draw engines like Airknight Parshath and Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive(don't use Royal Magical Library).

Royal Magical Library isn't that bad actually...Magic Cards are constantly played so getting 3 counters on it isn't too big a problem...2000 DEF stands up to pretty much any non-tribute monster used these days (and, at the very least, makes good Smashing Ground diverting)
I like to either use Airknight + Robbin Goblin or Mefist + Robbin Goblin or some combo mix like that.
