Sigh... i am back with a new trouble. For those of you who viewed my thread "Trap holes" you know how stupid my meta is so this is the new problem.
Me: I play Call of the Haunted and Bring back Mobius.
Opponent: I chain Enemy Controller and give Phoenix to take Mobius.
Me: ... Okay. End.
Opponent: okay i draw and he comes back.
Me: No he doesnt.
heres the problem. he thinks offering means destroyed. And everyone agrees! it makes me so mad! It frustrates me so much. I tried telling him no because that would mean Tributing would make it comeback. They all said "Tribute summoning and tributing is different." I almost cried of frustration cuz it was the semi-finals and they were giving some good prizes. So i need something to prove he is wrong.
If they can get it for Magic and Trap Cards in terms of "negate vs. Destroy" then how could they not get this???
"NEGATE" vs. "DESTROY"
"Destroy" (destroy a card and send it to the Graveyard) is different from "negate" (prevent the card's effect from happening).
Chaining "Mystical Space Typhoon" (or "Dust Tornado") to a card like "Raigeki" (or another Normal Spell or Normal Trap Card, a Quick-Play Spell Card, or a Ritual Spell Card) has no effect, as it does not negate the card's effect. So if "Raigeki" is activated, and the opponent chains "Mystical Space Typhoon" to destroy "Raigeki", "Raigeki"'s effect still resolves as normal. Sure, "Mystical Space Typhoon" will destroy "Raigeki", but since "Raigeki" was headed for the Graveyard anyway, it doesn’t make any difference.
In order to stop the "Raigeki" Spell Card, you would need to use an effect that "negates" "Raigeki"’s effect. Examples of this would include "Magic Jammer" and "Imperial Order."
If you "negate" the effect of a card such as an Equip Spell Card, that does not necessarily mean that the Equip Spell Card is destroyed. For example, if I equip my "Dark Magician" with "Axe of Despair", if my opponent chains "Imperial Order", or has the "Spell Canceller" monster on the field, my "Axe of Despair" is still equipped to my "Dark Magician". As long as "Axe of Despair"’s effect is negated, "Dark Magician" doesn’t gain the +1000 ATK. But the "Axe of Despair" remains on the field and, if the "Imperial Order" or "Spell Canceller" is removed from the field, then the +1000 ATK will re-activate.
However, if I equip my "Dark Magician" with "Axe of Despair", and my opponent chains a card like "Magic Jammer" to the activation of "Axe of Despair", then "Axe of Despair" is "negated and destroyed" so it is sent to the Graveyard.
Also the ruling for Vampire Lord...
"When "Vampire Lord" is Tributed (including by your opponent with "Soul Exchange"), or when he is "sent to the Graveyard", he will not be Special Summoned by his own effect because he was not "destroyed"."
It's all the same type of things as with summons...if you TRIBUTE a monster, it's TRIBUTED and not "destroyed" no matter WHAT kind of Tribute it was made, whether it be for a summon or a cost or effect, it's still a "tribute".
Unless a card specifically says to "destroy" (Tribute, send to the Graveyard, discard, etc), then it is NOT "destroyed".

Thats all I needed. Thanks Half. Most people in my meta are just stupid. I will just make the connect of V-lord and Phoenix.
yes the ignorant masses can be difficult to convince.
basically explain it to them this way.
tribute only counts as tributing and sending to the graveyard.
destroying only counts as destroying and sending to the graveyard.
discard counts as discarding and sending to the graveyard.
the 3 of those are completely different. and do not overlap at all ever. they never count as eachother, although they do count as sending to the graveyard. but sending to the graveyard does not count as any of them.
They had the right ruling for the wrong scenario. Tributing and tribute summoning ARE differant, but thats like trying to prove that the sky is blue by saying that sangan has 1000 attack.
