ok i cant believe this is legal. my opponent snatch and steals my monster. like 2 turns pass by and i draw book of moon. i use it on the snatched monster. my opponent says that he keeps the monster anyway. how is this possible. i am the owner of the card so i get it back right?
in case no one saw the question it is do i get monster back from snatch and steal when i use book of moon on it?
If you chain Book of moon to the activation of Snatch Steal putting your monster face down before the equip resolves, then you keep the monster. If any of the flip it face down effects take place after Snatch is activated, then the monster stays there like Xav said.
If someone equips snatch steal to a monster and the effect has already resolved so they have control of the monster and then it goes face down by an effect, then the monster stays under the control of the person who used snatch steal and snatch steal is destroyed. Now if it had been something like Brain Control or Change of Heart (for you traditional people) that specifically states that the card returns to the owner at the end of the turn, it doesn't matter if it goes face down, because the effect that took control of it "wears off" at the end phase and forces it to return to its original controller.
Yes, you do. The card must be equipped on a face-up monster to keep it. I am pretty sure Snatch Steal says something like, while this card is equipped you take control... and so on.
If Snatch Steal is equipped to a monster and it is destroyed, then the monster returns to its original owner.
This can be countered though if they chain something to the effect that destroys snatch steal that has the effect of putting the monster face down. In this case, the monster would be put face down before snatch steal is destroyed leading back into the original part of this thread.
The difference btween flipping the equipped monster f/d and destroying Snatch Steal is a slighlty easier question. If the monster is face up, It still "remembers" who owns it. So when the equip is gone, it goes running home. If itis flipped down, it has completely forgotten you.
If the monster is face-up and equipped with Snatch Steal and then Snatch Steal is destroyed and the monster is STILL face-up on the field, the monster will return to its owner.
If the monster is face-up and equipped with Snatch Steal and then Snatch Steal is destroyed and the monster is face-DOWN on the field, it will NOT return to its owner.
