I saw this happen several time and i just want to clear it up,
If the turn player summons a monster, then the other player activates bottomless/trap hole, can the turn player respond with a torrential tribute to clear the field??
thanks.
actually yes he can, since teh chain is still resolving and will resolve in reverse order of TT destroying all monsters on the field and BT/TH will resolve without a target.
traps chain to the last card effect...that would be like saying I cant chain book of moon to my monster thats about to hit a sak armor just because the other guy activated it.
Yes he can...the BASE activation time is still directly linked.
It does NOT have to be chain linked directly to the summon as long as it is not a Counter Trap which DO have to be directly linked to whatever you wish to use it against.
In this case, Torrential Tribute is not a Counter Trap and the chain links lead directly back to the base event of a monster being summoned to the field, meaning the activation timing is STILL correct.
Yes, you CAN chain Torrential Tribute to the activation of Bottomless Trap Hole and Torrential Tribute will destroy all monsters on the field and then Bottomless Trap Hole resolves without effect since the monster(s) it would have removed are no longer face-up on the field.
This is just like why you can activate Sakuretsu Armor and chain with Magic Cylinder/Draining Shield/Enchanted Javelin/etc to ONE attack from a monster.
