I heard that you can use DNA Surgery with Selection of Ark, since the monster that is going to be summoned will turn into the type that you selected. But, since the monster being summoned hasn't hit the field, at that time, wouldn't Selection of Ark not work against it, if it's of a different type originally than what was selected? I always thought that a card had to hit the field in order for DNA Surgery to affect it, not in the PROCESS of hitting it.
