Hey guys, its your local Bandit again, since relams is refusing to let me write for them, i though i would just do my articles in this forum until they decide to let me in lol, anywho, today i am gonna talk about the aggressive format we are dealing with today, you might say its not aggressive, and i am an idiot, i know this because i was recently helping out a local with a decklist and told them to omit magician of faith completely and iw as called an idiot. Now if you want to say i am wrong about this overly aggressive format take a look at this
x3 cyber dragon- a special summoned massive beatsick hmm not aggressive
x3 zaborg- a monster that has run this format all season long, 2400 with the effect to destroy any monster on the field, hmm no aggression there.
x3 chaos sorcerer- a special summoned 2300 atk beatstick with a removal effect, removing a monster, that is in no way aggressive.
CYBER STEIN- lps no longer mean anything at all, we will pay 5000 lp to dish out a win or a crippling hit, COME ON THIS IS AGGRESSION AT ITS FINEST
x2 smashing ground- this card is slowily making its comeback, why? you can kill a bigger monster then hit them with one of yours, this card has been due to come back.
x2 creature swap- this card may not look aggrssive but think about it, hadn them something insanely weak then hit it with their much larger monster.
x2 nobleman of crossout- f/d hate
return from the different dimension- half of our lps to take down our opponet, again severely aggressive
so i am sure with some of my examples i have proven we have an extremely aggressive format, the most defensive cards we now play are reapers, book and scape goat. come on that is it. Conservative play is out the window for this format and a more aggressive play is in.
so how do we create a deck that is super aggresive? we all know the Bandit 12 step program to deckbuilding, now we have to review the steps.
When going comepletely aggressive we have to remember that we have to be more aggressive than our opponet, who is most likely trying to out aggro us.
my latest favorite deck is recruiter chaos, it is absolutely aggro and needs no introduction, but how do we build the RIGHT kind of recruter, alot of you think i am wrong, again i am gonna tell you, i have massive wins off of building this way, my team builds this way(and we took home the shrink for atlanta) and the results are proving themselves even more.
now my recruter build is pretty elementary, goes down to the basics, easy to use and run efficiently, and it cranks out wins. I am not saying my way is the only way, but i am gonna show you ways of deckbuilding that you would otherwise dismiss.
the recent trend in deckbuilding is removing call and premie, i also do that, but it saves more space and the fact is, in todays aggressive format you will be removing most of your monsters worth getting back from the grave. so we will omit those two from this recruter deck.
my new thing is removing magician of faith x2 from my decks, i hope to achieve victory before i get to the point i need my spells back, i don't need them for lights since i am running x3 shining angels, and if 1 of my angels gets noced i still have 2 more, they don't run the risk of all being noc'ed unlike magician of faith.
I also like to run x3 zaborg instead of 2 for that extra removal, i also run the standard 3 cyber dragon, and the less standard 3 chaos sorcerer, most like to run 2, they really only run 3 when they are running 1 or 2 return, but the extra aggro you get from three is deffinately worth the hastle.
I run the standard 3 shining angel and 3 mystic tomato, they synergize to well with the creature swap x2 i am gonna run to abuse these two searchers, as most recruter decks run. to syndergize a little more 3 reaper are going in, along with sangan and dd warrior lady.
Now the most harsh desicion i have is whether or not i want to run tsukiyomi, most of you will say, tsuki is awesome against zaborg, blah blah blah, but i say, i am not running any flips, so i can't abuse it that way, and with all my removal i am sure i can handle a wayward zaborg, so cyber stein is going in her spot, uber aggresive, and a massive game ender, so he is IN.
x3 shining angel
x3 mystic tomato
x3 spirit reaper
cyber stein
sangan
breaker the magical warrior
dd warrior lady
so now that my monsters are ready to go, and i am pretty good with the way they look, i am gonna break into my spells, i already said that x2 noc, x2 smashing ground, x2 creature swap, so there are 6 of my spells, but what about the rest?
hmm, to synergize the rest of the monsters i think that last will, will work great with stein, tomato, angel, sangan, dd warrior lady, so it is in.
snatch steal is a basic necessety, along with mystical space typhoon, and heavy storm, so those are automatically in.
graceful charity is in there for more speed and dark/light drops.
book of moon is in this equation for a little bit of non aggression and so is scape goat, great openers so they are in.
confiscation is in just because it is prenegation, get rid of their best spell/trap/monster before it ever hits, that is always nice.
so my spells are set
spells
x2 creature swap
x2 nobleman of crossout
x2 smashing ground
snatch steal
mystical space typhoon
heavy storm
graceful charity
last will
book of moon
scape goat
confiscation
that is my set spell lineup, now for traps i only have 4 spot open if i want to keep it 40, but 41 is alright to, so here are my choices
mirror force- deffinately useful in a meta where swarming is abundunt
Torrential tribute- this is also a great card for swarm decks, so this is in.
x2 dust tornado- dust tornado is great to chain against a decree, great for clearing out some of your opponets traps(more on this card as we go into closing)
then just to top off this big pile of aggression, i'll throw in a return from a different dimension. Now with this trap line up and this deck, i have many different ways to take home a win.
my trap line up
traps
x2 dust tornado
mirror force
torrential tribute
return from the different dimension
i said above that in closing i will talk a little about the advantages of running x dust tornado.
Dust tornado is awesome in a format where traps are at an alltime low, compared to the last 2 formats, this format boasts the lowest amounts of trap useage i have ever seen, ranging from 5-6 traps, and sometimes(in a decree lineup) 3-4, so 2 dust tornado's can severely dehibilitate a decks defensive options. dust tornado should see a comeback in decks, and i do suggest you remove a few from the side and move em to the main, the results are amazing.
next up is your fusions.
most fusion decks run a butt load of fusions, i know i am runnning some of the dumbest ones i can think of, even some that can't bge speical summoned thanks to cyber stein, but what should you cyber stein, what is worth 5000 lps? my personal favorite monster to stein is cyber twin, why? because most people who side deck in some kuribo like to drop em on your cyber end, cyber twin gets to hit them for some sort of damage, that cushions the blow a little bit.
anywho, that is all i got for you in this new more aggressive format.
i can never tell anymore really, there are too many forums, eventually i am hoping that they make me a writer, i have been doing this for a while, not too many people remember my dedication to light and dark series, that came out aroundthe goats era, or trinity format.
i have emailed tamahome and itnever went any further than meeting him at philly, and i wasn't able due to money problems, and i offered to send him a sample article, maybe if i get enough people talking about my writing i can get up there. also, since we are getting the gadgets in the next tourniment season, i am going to show you a viable gadget deck, the new cookie cutter, then i am gonna discuss other things, my articles are usually about cards and tactics, mechs, techs, and such things, i never waste my time writing about stupid things like what the game used to be unless it fits into the article in some way, liek comparing a cards use then, then comparing it to now.
Meh...given the differences in meta, I dunno about Gadgets catching up as a CC soon...at least not with the minds of so many Duelists stuck on "Chaos" and Future Fusion OTK and such...at least until someone Top 8's with them and all...
at least until someone Top 8's with them and all...
That is probably the worst thing about the internet (in yugiman terms). It really is sad too, and it makes me wonder what the game would be like without the internet.
well i am hoping that people that are unsure about how good they are or how to build and play them will read my articles(i plan on doing at least 4) and learn how to build and play them correctly, you see gadgets wont get any kind media covereage until they are realeased, and teh only folks who will know how to use them effectively will be ocg players. tomahome really does need people like me who stay on the net for hours reading up and finding all this useless info to share with the rest of the world. we need to get a preemptive strike on the cookie lol.
