I know these two objects add an extra click of damage when used up close...so someone holding the soda machine gets +3 on a close combat attack, instead of the normal +2 for a heavy object, and with the mailbox, it's +2 instead of the normal +1 for a light object in close combat.

However, I can't remember if the "bonus damage" also applies to when these objects are thrown. Does the soda machine do 4 when thrown, or 3? Does the mailbox do 3 or 2?

They add one to their damage when used in combat. That applies to Close Combat, Throwing the Objects or using it in a Telekinesis attack.

I think these objects add one to the attackers damage value. Check the wording on the rules card. If that is the wording (which I'm pretty sure that it is) then that would have no effect on TK or Ranged Combat attacks. That's how I've been playing it...only helps in Close Combat.
