Hey, I was thinking about getting the Emma Frost comic. All I know is that she's got something to do with the hellfire club, she's a telepath, and SHE IS HOT! So how is this comic, is it worth the cash?
The comic is Emma's origin story, from when she was a young girl and was just learning about her mutant powers. There hasn't been a whole lot of action but I've been enjoying the story, learning about Emma's family and her reaction to the fact that she can read and control the minds of others. Sort of a laid back plot but it's a good way to flesh out the character a bit.
Is it worth the cash? Well, if you're into the story and the character, then I'd say yes. If you're looking for huge battles between spandex wearing heroes and villains, you'll probably want to pass on this one. It just depends on what you're looking for.
Of the thirty-something titles I buy, Emma Frost is one I look most forward to.
I heard that if it sells well it could turn into an ongoing series, but I don't know much else other than what I read about it.
It's got a pretty good story, but since the Higher Learning story is almost over, you might save some money if you just get the Trade Paperback when it comes out.
Long live Veteran Rogue!!! Huzzah!
That's my opinion. You can get over yourself or you can live your whole life being wrong.
This is one of my favorite books now. I like it a lot. I was going to collect Wonder Woman until I heard Emma will be ongoing.
I wouldn't be surprised if her father is a low level member of The Hellfire Club (that is a member of the public face). That is probably where she will meet and be influenced (for better or worse) by Sebstian Shaw.
And heck! The book is worth it for the magic of Greg Horn's cover art alone. There aren't many artists I would say that about.
So Emma's good for more than her looks it appears! Well this sounds pretty cool and I might start reading soon, but do you know if/when the TPB will come out? I hate starting a comic on a bunch of issues after 1! especially when i can get the TPB and read the whole story!
Marvel TP's seem to hit one month after the stories conclude. So you're looking at three months. You might just think about getting all the issues if you can. Most of them should still be cover price. #1 shouldn't be gong for more than five bucks.
I bought the number one to try it and like a lot of people if I didn't like the #1 I won't follow on the series but I loved the #1. This comic is really great and well worth the price of $2.50. This is probably one of the best new series by Marvel.
Namor, Venom, Thanos, Silver Surfer, Mystique, Human Torch, Sentinel, Hawkeye, Emma Frost and Runaways (probably missing one or two) are all the new books by Marvel.
Emma Frost, Runaways and Hawkeye are the ONLY THREE BOOKS that are actually not garbage. I can only assume that Marvel is releasing several new books as a test to see which are successful and which are failures. And my guess is the successful ones will live on and the failures will be canceled.
