Hum...this deck is very familiar....Hehe. Well, I know it plays well against many deck types seeing as how it's very much the update I made to my Gen Con Indy deck and posted here earlier (minus 1 Serum, 44 cards). Maybe try Terahorn in place of D-Gate since the best targets for D-Gate (FDF and Lancer) are expensive anyway. To answer your question in the deck builder, test out the Pit/Awe split. That's the best way to see if the split works.
Its a nice. My only advice is to drop one dual fang, and add one serum. 3 or more dual fangs seem too much along with 4 barkwhips, so I say stick to 2.
The only thing I see that I don't like is the Steel Smasher, if you want either go 4/2 on the Whips/FDF or 2/4 Whips/FDF. Also may aswell use Crystal Memory in replace of Dimension Gate, search for spell or monster and don;t have to show, if it throws off your ratio to much then don't but it should still be balanced.

Steel Smasher is Rush control. The deck lacks blokcers, and the Aggro elements don't kick off until 3rd turn when Mane can hit. It's also evo bait that doesn't fail victim to Hammer. The Beast Folk are top heavy with the evo ratios. But it works. Prolly could stand to lose a FDF tho. And the deck could work just as well if the focus was on Lancer. It would run a bit slower, but Lancer would be tops with blocker heavy areas.
