Much as I'd like to, I can't read everything (especially since a lot of my entertainment budget goes towards certain small plastic figures). That being said, I like to keep on top of as much DC stuff as possible. So in an effort to satisfy my curiosity, as well as spark some discussions, I thought I'd start a few threads about books I don't read, but look interesting.
First up: Y, the Last Man.
I read BKV's Swamp Thing and enjoyed it somewhat, but found it a little too uneven. I'm glad to see he's gotten another shot and made good on it.
What's the tone like on the book? It looks kind of campy to be honest, but I've heard mostly good things about it? Is it accessible, or would you need to go back to the beginning? Is the art good? What's the general "Story so far..."?
Well that should be enough to get the ball rolling. Any thoughts on the book would be greatly appreciated.
well, luckily for you, the first two storylines are collected in 2 trades. They're both good.
The general story is... something killed all male creatures on earth except for a guy named Yorick and his pet monkey (also male). So much stuff going on but in general. Yorick finds his mom, the Israel military is after him when they find out there's a real man living. There's a special agent protecting Yorick. They pick up some friends along the way. They find out that Yorick's sister belongs to the crazy woman power cult. They find out that there are some men in space too.... the last couple of issues should get you up to date. It's an amazing comic. I really look forward to it every month
any idea when or if this will wrap up? I'd hate to see a movie based on it while it's still not even hit the issue 20 mark...though, granted by the time the flick comes out, it should be another 20 issues or so.
When I saw the news about a movie for it, I was a little disappointed. Y is cool and all but like I said, it's still going. I would love for them to make a Preacher movie instead....as a TRILOGY! lol
