Since Continentals is about a month away I decided to make a thread to try to officially place decks into tiers and compare them to each other. Maybe some thoughts on where you think new decks/decks improved with the next set will be placed.
Tier 1:
U/B/R
B/U/G
Phal Control
4CC G/B/U/R
Tier 2:
4CC W/B/U/R
Somewhere around Tier 3-ish:
Variants of Rush
???
A very incomplete list, I know. But please, no flames. I'd like thoughful suggestions and opinons of where things go, not "OMG!!!! Rush is the best deck ever!!1!!!1111!11". I also placed the decks as I think they are in their tier in best-worst order. Any help would be appreciated.
I think 4cc Darkness/Water/Fire/Nature is a Tier 1 deck right now if we're talking categories. It's done very well on the Circuit with several 1st place finishes and many top 4s.
I find 4CC iffy. The thing I find problems that keep it from being Tier 1, maybe even dominant, is consistency. Based on matches against other top decks, it could find itself in some trouble against discard. I think 4CC is a more of a choice based on the meta. I think 4CC w/ Light could be more consistent using Light for draw, maybe stuff to stop discard (Dava Torey). It's just my theory, and I haven't proven anything yet, so my opinion is subject to change.

I reguarily beat good 3cc decks with my 4ccs. And, they topped at WW Philly where you played, lol. You have to know how to build them properly. Any Control deck can falter to discard. I often make it so my 4ccs decks can operate with mana from 3 civs out, you do a foundation civ. And, cards like BAT and lots of draw power help it overcome inconsistencies. Sure, it's more work than 3cc Control and does have those hurdles to overcome, but many good players have toppled stuff like D/W/F Merfolk with them all around the country and consistently for many sets. Next set might change some things. I do prefer 4cc with Light due to the extra draw, extra tutoring, and extra recursion.
I guess you're right. I really haven't ever tried out 4CC, so I wouldn't know. I guess it's Tier 1, but only G/R/U/B. It seems to have some advantage over U/B/R, but I'm personally not sure what. I don't think W/U/B/R is though. The only way that would be Tier 1 is if it was Phal control, and that I think deserves a category of its own due to drastically different card usage.
