Hey, looking through the deck list, I have to comment on the names chosen for the unique characters. Don't know if Decipher has anything to do with the fiction to be written, but I've noticed the following.
I want to play with people that have cool names, then I could feel cool myself (well, you know what I mean). And it is more petrifying for your opponent when there are frightening by cool names. For example, all mavericks sound like action stars (or adult entertainers): Ace McAllister, Jack Wilgress, Misty Miller
(hmm...), The Gambler, Two-Way Berson (*hmm*). I think the maverick is the culture to play just because of the names. Lets compare to the earthlings. Their dudes are called Chan Whitmer, Horatio Hicks, Ivan and Pavel. Come on, how cool is that? Playing the Hick-up man, Ivan and Pavel at a site will only make my opponent laugh instead of tremble. The Gongen seem alright though, even though all names sounds japanese and not intire asian (japanese and chinese are quite different). But guess they want the feeling of being samurais. Does anyone know japanese? Thinking if the nobots is called something like "pet names" in japanese? Maybe Ikazuchi means little tiger? I have absolutely no idea, just guessing...
Then the non-human speices. Why are all Shis named something like indian priests? (sorry if I offend anyone, maybe my own lack of knowledge make me belive this) But, come on: Irama-Vishal, Hailesh-Damir and Vatarva-Sudeva? How do you come up with these names? But, they are a bit petryfying though, don't
wanna play Chan & Pavel vs. these dudes. Last the Quay, seems like all names must consist the letters "a" and "k", at least one of each. Reminds a bit of "UrUr" and "UrrUrrUrr" in SW. At least it will by funny to pronounce these names...
well, guess I'm sticking with the mavs for now. Jack & Misty are my heroes... ;)

I don't know. I mean, Horatio Hicks calls to mind the great Admiral Horatio Hornblower. Ivan and Pavel are Russian names, and what's cooler than Russian spies, I ask you? Maybe British spies. But calling one of them James would just be tipping your hand. Finally, you forgot Jossel Swin, which I think is a great name for a great character with awesome art on his card.
I notice that you also glossed over James Howler, with his loyal Howler's Blades. What a great sci-fi name, in the classic sci-fi vein! Reminds me of Phule's Company, Rasczak's Roughnecks, etc.
Of course, the Mavs may have the best character name of them all...one that you also omitted in your tour-du-names: UV-IR739.
Well, James Howler is a pretty cool name, though. He should be a maverick!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no Jossel Swin in the card list on D. What happened to Jossel? Didn't make the cut from the demo decks? So I didn't forget about Jossel...And how russian sounds Ivan McCarr? An old kgb-agent, trying to speak like Sean Connery as 007?
Admiral Horatio Hornblower? Come on, who's using horns to communicate in sci-fi. The name is mote suited for LOTR...
But UV-IR739! Ultra Violet and Infra Red! Seems like the mavericks are high-tech...
Playing a deck with cool named cards? Err, that's so SW:CCG ala Jason Leopard. No, no...I play to win. And if that means playing with the 60 most boring titled cards in the set, so be it.
Ikazuchi, Shikami, Deigan and Chujo are Noh Masks used in Japanese theatre (just punch them into google to get some info on them)
The ships Jikoku, Zocho, Tamon and Komoku are the four winds (east, south, noth and west respectively) used in Japanese.
I think the Shi sound pretty good. You would expect them to have 'exotic' names. Not sure what you mean about Indian priests. There are Indian deities called Vishnu, Shiva etc. sure but .... well I guess they sound a bit alike.

he's a premium foil found only in the Earther/Maverick starter deck.
personally i think in a tottaly non biased opinion that the quay names are the coolest i mean the one guys name means form of fire how much better does it get. i would like to reiterate that this is a totally non biased opinion
