Card # WC07-EN001
Card Name Spell Striker
Card Type Monster
Monster Type Warrior
Attribute EARTH
Level 3
Attack 600
Defense 200
You can Special Summon this card from your hand by removing from play 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard. This card can attack your opponent directly. Any Battle Damage this card's controller takes from a battle involving this card becomes 0.
The idea I'll use with him is leaving him in my binder.
I'll never use him outside of a deck that runs 1 or 2 copies of Robbin' Goblin. You not taking damage from their attack against the card doesn't mean anything. They 1:1'd you and that's more important in the long run since that's a more damaging hit to your card resources than life points.
I rather use Hydrogeddon than this. Solar Flare even looks more tasty than this as well.
The main purpose of Spell Striker is to be instant tribute fodder, that's what he'll be used for. Like a monster version of Fiend's Sanctuary in a way. His other effects are a nice bonus, but not what he should be used for.

You have no idea. In my Earth toolie ... this is an important resource link.
1.) Being a Warrior, you can Rota him. Remove rota and drop a Zabbie. Thats foulplay.
2.) Being Earth, you can special summon him, swing directly and then Kurogane him for that MSlv2 to clear up the facedown you jumped over, and still have space for your own normal summon.
This card is Gigantes on steroids. Getting a spell in the grave is so easy its not even funny.
Ill need 2~3 for my current deck. I can now run more tributes and not worry about procuring food for them.
There is no way that you should be using this card as tribute fodder...
To state the blindingly obvious, you should use any other tribute fodder card before using Spell Striker for tribute fodder:
Brain Control x3
Snatch Steal x1
Enemy Controller x3
Soul Exchange x3
Any floater x3
Instant Fusion x3 w/Book of Life
Brain controll- Requires a opp to have a F/U monster, and 1/10 of your life points (its minor but it gives teh possibility of it being a dead draw.)
Snatch- Everyone is Using it, its a staple of course it will be used before spell striker is even considered.,
EC- Requires you to have a monster to tribute, in the end the enemy controller only takes out 1 opp monster, (only bonus is that you could use a token)
Soul Exchange- you lose your battle phase which could have been used to crush that opps monster.
Any Floater- ....... why not this floater? he is a SS so your floater doesent even have to survive a turn. and he is searchable.
Instant fusion with book of life- that is a whole different strategy.
and its sooooooo funny to use with Heart of Clear Water.
I've waited a long time for a card with this summoning condition. So far the only card that used spell cards in the grave was chaosrider gustaph, and his best trick was a 2000 ATK score. Big deal. Spell Striker is another great shot at swarm, and it fits in a deck with gigantes and the rock spirit. Pity about his low attack and defense value, but still. I see a lot of uses for this little guy.

We're all well aware of the drawbacks (minor minor minor drawbacks) that all the cards I mentioned have...
The fact remains that there is no reason to use Spell Striker when there are better choices. Like ZaQ777 said, desperation is the only hope this card has of being used.
If I was thinking of running a Spell Canceller control deck, Im sure you'd run this for tribs over any of those really.
Not really. IF you were running a canceller deck, you woudn't run many Spells. And, if you were running canceller, his effect only works while face-up. So, playing Brain Control to get some fodder for him wouldn't hurt. It's like people saying running Cyber Dragon with Vanity Fiend is bad.
I don't know what the big deal is. To elaborate on an aforementioned play, you could RotA him, remove RotA to special summon him, tribute him for a monarch, and THEN remove him for Gigantes or the Rock Spirit. You get a Monarch effect, you only lose one card, you get two good monsters on the field, you still have three cards in hand if it's your first turn (In which case, if the Monarch isn't Mr.T, you're crazy), and finally, it thins your deck. BOO-yaH!
Edit: BTW, all the aforementioned cards are good even without Spell Striker, and all the cards are allowed in multiples, all but RotA in threes.
