Terrible Deal
Normal Trap
Activate by paying 1000 Life Points when your opponent when you opponent activates a Spell card. Your opponent discards one random card.
What are your thoughts on this card? I was thinking of testing it with Magic Drain.
i'd rather run magic drain. terrible deal doesn't negate the spell, just discards AND you pay 1000 lps. i'd rather activate a card for no cost and either negate or discard.
I love this card....who cares if it dosent negate the card in question. The life point payment is worth your opponent losing two cards. (the spell he plays and the card that is discarded) I have been playing with it for a while and I love it.

How is this better than Magic Drain?
You play Smashing Ground.
I play Magic Drain.
At this point, you either discard, or get Smashing Ground negated. Either 1 4 1 or 2 4 2.
Now let's look at it with Terrible Deal
You play Smashing Ground
I play Terrible Deal
At this point, I lose 1k LP and you discard a card, ending up with a 2 4 2. Same as Magic Drain but I lost LP.
What about if you REALLY need to negate the effect? Let's take our classic Demise OTK deck here. If the opponent starts up ARA, do you want to give them the option of dropping a second ARA and still get that Demise nuke going, or is it worth the 1000 to shut down the engine completely? At this point they've lost the spell card, and potentially a Demise or other tutor from the hand.
Then again, I've always been partial to Magic Jammer. Pretty close to guaranteed negation, plus I have some Necrofood/Graveyard card to take advantage of. Since its a counter trap, you don't have to worry about pesky Decrees on the field either. 8^D

Dillie, you've lost me  , how would you shut it down completely?
It won't be a sure bet still since the first activated ARA isn't negated and the discarded card is a random discard. So with a fully loaded hand which most of the time a DOTK deck will have, there is a slim chance to shutting it down.
Now, i've play tested this card, it really doesn't do much but unbalance your opponents hands, a hand control card it is, logically, but not much versatility per say, it might be helpful against monarch decks though.
With Jammer, as long as you have a card in your hand and your opponent doesn't have a set 7 Tools / Solemn Judgement, then you've negated and destroyed ARA. I'm not saying it shuts the ENTIRE engine down for the duel (unless your're runnign Cursed Seal), but you can be assured that they aren't getting ARA off.
However, with Magic Drain, if your opponent has a second ARA or other spell card in hand, they can simply discard that and let the Ritual continue as usual, you can't do a second chain to the activation of ARA at that point.
I apologize <re-reading original post /> I was a little fuzzy on my info, I was trying to bring up a negative about Magic Drain.

Ahhhhh, ok :p yea, I thought you were talking about positives from Drain and/or TDeal, lol.
How about an old fashioned Trap Dustshot + D.D. Designator :p
Abosolutly correct....with decress EVERYWHERE....its important to know how other traps interact with that one card....the card has its minuses but it has its pluses...LP payments should be noticed...but they shouldnt really be focused on....especially in a meta where everyone is concerned with card advantage. Cards that have discard or hand manipulation effects have always had a way of sticking around after their initial release and this card will be no exception.
i don't know if it'll stick around. for the 1000 lp payment, i'd rather run confiscation and pick which card is discarded. and i just think there are better options.
and the name is terrible deal...nobody wants to make a terrible deal.:p
So you know it's not as good as Magic Drain, yet you still run it?
*is confused*
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww your confused huh?
Its Yu-Gi-OH dude..not Shakespeare!!!!!! whats so confusing? You dont understand how I can acknowledge that Magic Drain is better than Terrible Deal and still run both...well this is how you do it....you find one copy of Magic Drain and one copy of Terrible Deal and you place them in a deck consisting of at least 40 cards...and there you have it.....you end up with a deck that runs both cards...now if your still "confused" then I dont know what to tell you...you can buy a rulebook or something....and if THAT makes you feel confused too... then you should just stop dueling because people who are always confused usually dont duel very well. Apparently you can read... but I know I just typed ALOT of these things called LETTERS that form these things called WORDS....I just want to make sure I dont CONFUSE you anymore than you already have been. Is your head hurting now? You should take a Tylenol...but maybe not...theres something on the back of the bottle called instructions that might make you feel REALLY confused, I would be really sad if you get sooo confused that you swallow too many pills and stop breathing.....PERMANENTLY.
Stop making my comments seem as if I said one thing when its obvious I meant something entirely different. Youve done it before and its a little irritating.
Its obvious that Magic Drain is better than terrible deal....I only said I played with it before and I like it...THATS ALL.
YES I KNOW MAGIC DRAIN IS BETTER THAN TERRIBLE DEAL AND I RAN BOTH....BIG DEAL. Did I commit a dueling sin? Should I quit and sell all my cards on ebay?
So can u PLEASE stop picking apart my words....:tired:
