Hey, I'm back and there's some cards I've learned to use to great effect. Today, we'll look at the smallest of monsters with the biggest of punches.
MRL-010/DB1-EN008
Ameba
*
[Aqua/Effect]
When the control of this face-up card on the field shifts to your opponent, inflict 2000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. This effect can be used only once while this card remains face-up on the field.
ATK/300 DEF/350
Rulings:
AMEBA
This card’s effect is not activated when equipped to an opponent’s "Relinquished" or "Thousand-Eyes Restrict".
If your opponent uses "Change of Heart" on a face-down "Ameba" and Flip Summons it, when it returns to you during the End Phase, its effect activates and you take 2000 damage.
Now, aside from spelling Ameba wrong(should be Amoeba), this little guy packs a punch. For a 300 ATK monster, he can deal 2000 in one shot, 2300 if you have an open shot.
Ameba works well in a Burn deck, of course, but it needs to be made to use Ameba, because let's face it... it doesn't do anything on it's own.
Shien's Spy is a card that, normally, is fairly useless. But it's only condition for activation: a face-up monster on your side of the field. So, unlike Mystic Box and Creature Swap, Shien's Spy can be used when your opponent has no monster. That's one reason to run it if you run Ameba- it's got a relatively unconditional activation requirement. 2000 damage, and you get your little Ameba back. Smart players have a Saku lined up for when your opponent tries to smash through the single-celled pathogenic monster.
Creature Swap is nice too, your opponent goes to all the trouble of summoning their big critter... then, if they have anything else, Fissure/Smash it, then Summon Ameba, and use CS. So, that's 2000+ damage in a short move.
Mystic Box can kill an opponents monster, and then send them Ameba. A 300 ATK weenie that deals them 2000 damage, AND the loss of their monster. Sure, they have tribute fodder for next turn... but playing smart, that won't be a problem.
All-in-all, I'd say Ameba is a good card, if played right.
Power: 4/5(2000 damage? No real cost? I think it's got power)
Playability: 2/5(needs it's own deck to work)
Appearance: 3/5(too big to be a real Amoeba)
Overall: 3/5
Hope you enjoyed this card review. I'll do more as I find more interesting cards.
