Hello All. My Name's Bryan. Some of you may recognize my name on here, most of you probably don't. I used to play Yugioh way back two or three years ago when nationals first originated. I took the first Regional Idaho ever had, and played at nationals with a very bad build of a deck I later perfected and posted on here, and many people liked the concept. I was also a huge part of the Aggro scene back with the banlist that allowed Duo, Graceful, and Pot all at 1 (Whatever list that was lol). I've recently decided to get back into Yugioh, and after becoming familiar with the metagame and reading up on what took place at nationals, I've thrown together a rough copy of a deck of what might be anti-meta, but is also a spin off of what I perfected after Nationals 2004 (I think it was 2004 :$)
Also, leave a comment guys. Most people just look at a build and think nothing of it, but even commenting on how it may affect the meta-game and what goes through your mind when you look at it might help the deck be on top.

Let me know what you guys think of the concept of this as well. It used to be blazing fast right after advanced came around, maybe it still could be today.
And my signature has my deck back from Two Years ago exactly lol...Check that out too :P
I dislike repetition in decklist making. Are numbers so hard? It drives me away from even trying to understand the decklist, since it's makes it look like there's more to go through. Anyway, I digress.
Here are my suggestions:
Anti-meta is kind of iffy. It turns into a win it or lose it type of deck.
I think that the Goldd are pointless in the deck, as it interacts with absolutely nothing in the entire build. I suggest either moving them to the side deck, or including some Dark World Dealings/Lightning in place of Scapegoat and Ceasefire.
Tomato Control has passed its prime. It's an old spin, yes, but I worry that it wouldn't be able to compete in an age of D-Hero Malicious and Destiny Draw.
Goldds are level 5s for Reasoning and are Anti-Thestalos, which is big. Plus, they run over Cyber Dragons, which is good in itself. I was trying to mix in level 5s that were Dark. However, they may be dropped if I can find something that would Mix better.
Plus, it's not Tomato Control. It's Strike Ninja. The purpose is to avoid the Zaborgs, Kick out of the Torrentials/Rugs, Brain Controls, Snatches, Books, Controllers, Soul Exchanges, you name it, it basically avoids it. With that and Reasoning, the speed is nice.
For this format, this deck is original in structure indeed. The problem is efficiency.
- The Goldd problem has already been covered. The current format is not about Thestalos, and it's not as "big" as you claim. There were a total of 15 Thestalos in the top 16 at Nat'ls. Only 3 of which were maindecked (I believe). It's mainly about Raiza and Mobius (and still Zaborg).
- I can see that it is Strike Ninja. I see it copy and pasted three times and deduced as such.
- As a note, Pulling the Rug cannot be activated in response the Strike Ninja's summon, and don't think for a second it can avoid any counter traps like Solemn, Horn, or Wrath.
- I mistyped my meaning. I singled out Tomato because it was an older speed engine. That lead to me calling it Tomato Control. That aside, the question of how this deck will compete with its Perfect Circle Monarch counterparts remains unanswered. While I like to give quality reviews to original decks, quality feedback on both parties is much more valuable to the deckbuilder.
- How does your deck plan to solve the problem an RFG sidedeck presents? An early game Macro Cosmos, Banisher of the Radiance, or Dimensional Fissure are plausible game 2 scenarios.
- Could you post a side deck so that we can discuss the direction you want to take game 2? Theoretically, a good side deck can mitigate most of the main deck's faults by then. It would also explain some card choices and synergies you chose to work with.
PS. Repetition is also tacky, but I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on this one :p
You mean this rough copy of an anti-metagame deck doesn't even exist yet? In this case, then there really isn't much more I can help with. I hope taking your deck into an 8-round, Card Trooper-mained Banisher/DDCrow sided A Perfect Circle metagame will give you more insight into our current trends. I hope to see a newer, improved version soon after these experiences.
As for my assumptions on what will go wrong. I simply use common sense, like with most things in life. Will an RGF strategy work against a deck that has 20 graveyard dependent cards? Logic says yes, especially with only 2 pieces of m/t removal in the main deck. The side deck does not even have to be an RFG specific lineup. 2 copies of Banisher, 2 copies of D.Fissure/Macro, 1 D.D.Crow are all cards that also take down Gadgets (from what I heard, was also a major contender at Nat'ls, despite earning no T16 places). This is why a sidedeck is essential.
You act as though I'm ignorant. I'm not. I understand what you're saying, but what's the best way to know if something works, instead of just logic? Playtesting.
It's nice to know that you just place this as anti-meta, when it clearly could be a deck of its' own. Everything else originated the same way, yes?
Way to NOT help and give constructive criticism. You might as well have said "Just run with the mainstream."
It would have saved time. I don't see why you had to post to tell me something I knew.
Which was why I specifically asked how your own playtesting experiences went. I have neither time nor resources to go and get/proxy out all these cards, sleeve them, and run it through my gauntlet. Since this is your deck, it would be your perogative to playtest, not mine. Stop trying to start a flame war with me. Fact of the matter is that you still haven't given me a reply to any of the feedback questions I asked you. Feedback where most constructive criticism stems. If I can understand your experiences with the deck asainst "mainstream" decks, I can make better suggestions/constructive criticisms. From where exactly did you assume I asked you to, as you so eloquently put it: "Just run with the mainstream."?
I have simply told you what I know, and most certainly you should know about the current metagame. If you had wanted blind praise of your deck, I'm the wrong person for that. I do try to give constructive criticism. However, if you take every simple question I ask you as an offense to your intelligence, common sense, whatever you think I'm insinuating, then there is no way I can give you the constructive criticism you want to hear.
Edit: I do not "clearly think" the deck is anti-meta. Those are your own words. Since you had wanted this deck to be something of an anti-metagame spinoff, I ran in that general direction. I'm sure though, had you not posted your blurb before the decklist, the general public will still comment on your use of Goldd, and what your defense against RFG would be. Any competent player not simply looking for a "r/f for r/f" would ask those question had they genuinely wanted to help.
