Hey guys, recently I have begun using Vet Batman. For only 116 points, he is a beast. The AV can be a problem, but as long as you play him in DC only games he works great. Here is my current 400 point squad with him:

V Batman 116 (JLA TA, l/c, willpower, dual incapacitate, leadership, outwit)
V Nightwing 72 (Batman TA, l/c, dual incapacitate, outwit, smoke)
V Green Arrow 50 (stealth, dual incapacitate, rce, l/c)
R Cosmic Boy 45 (Legion TA, tk, flight)
V Huntress 35 (JLA TA, rce, l/c)
R Harley Quinn 27 (Batman Enemy TA, perplex, smoke)
E Robin 20 (Batman TA, l/c, smoke)
V Checkmate Medic 19 (support)
V Checkmate Agent 16 (smoke)
400 points

Ok, this team is highly mobile. You have flight, tk, and a lot of leap/climb. Also since there are a good number of stealthers on here, there are 2 figures who start with smoke, and 2 figures that get it elsewhere on their dial. On an indoor map, this team is highly dangerous. Use the Checkmate Agent to throw up a smoke cloud 8 squares away underneath your stealthed front line (NW, GA, Robin). Smoke is a very effective way to deal with Flash also, since it stops him in his tracks. And it gives a good number of your non-stealthed attackers (Batman, Huntress, Harley) very good defenses of 16 or 17, which are very good for DC.

Also, with a few free movers and leadership, this team will utilize all of your actions every round!

Give it a try sometime, indoors or out, it is a great squad. Watch how effective V Batman can be, since your opponent will underestimate him. But with the dual 8 range, and those beautiful clicks of leap/climb, willpower and 5 damage from rce, your opponent won't underestimate him again!

You mean CCE instead of RCE. I've always liked V-Batman, too, but I've never really had an opportunity to play him. I'm glad someone else sees that he's not a bad figure and not dismiss him for E-Batman.

The reason I don't play the V batman is he starts with leadership instead of outwit. I like that someone is being different and playing the Vet instead of the experienced though. I would play the unique hypertime batman instead and start with the outwit, I can't remember the points for sure, but I believe that would give you enough points left to bump cosmic boy up to experienced. Plus, the unique batman has a better defense and attack, and nobody hardly plays with him either.

Yeah, with perplex and smoke on this squad, V Batman can have a 10 attack and 17 defense as well. I know nobody believes me, but he is deadly in the right hands. A V Bane with leap/climb, willpower, free move, and leadership...sweet.

When people say to me, "Oh, he's not that good..." or "He's overcosted". I say two words: "The Leader". At the same price, Batman is wayyyy better than him.

PS- Smoke cloud rules!

There's something else V-Batman has going for him that E-Batman lacks. V-Batman has 1 extra click of life compared to E-Batman. But, that's not all. EVERY click on V-Batman is useful. He goes from leadership/incapacitate (and more of the latter) to CCE then outwit/smoke cloud until KO. This means that V-Batman actually has 2 extra clicks since E-Batman is less useful on his last click with only smoke cloud. You can't forget willpower for the entire dial, either.

So, not only do you get a figure that has more clicks, but more of his clicks are effective.

What about promo bats or the unique kryptonite bats?

The reason he's slated for being overcosted is that his stats don't change much from the Experienced version, and he trades his best power for Leadership, along with possibly the best team ability for a good but not as-good one. Now yeah, I'm someone who is very much in the E-bats camp, but I don't doubt the effectiveness of the Vet. He just happens to be a very tempting target - most people hardly ever get to target Batman as he takes apart their force, so when he's all JLA'd up and non-stealthed, who can resist the shot? :P
