I've got one last chance to play "Mines or Yours?" on Saturday. I've decided to play Liao for once. I've banged up this army:

I intend this to be a well-rounded army capable of adapting to new situations on the fly. Any suggestions or comments?

i don't know how cheesy your venue is but i played against 2 tankdrops
1 with 3 ssw towed aks and 1 with the usual schmitt(df)
the tankdrop with the towed aks got my arty and the other one smashed my LI wasp...
i'd suggest using some fast infantry like trikes or even fa shihs to stop them somehow
besides this it's a well rounded army..good luck!!!

Just one, really...

Good on you for using the Wasp, but why so few Liao units?

My Liao figures include the Wasp, two Blades, a DI Towed AA, two Laser Batteries, an SRM Launcher, and 1 Fah Shih. Not much, obviously. I would love to include the Fah Shih, but the RotS infantry are so durable as to withstand enemy artillery as it marches across the field.

This will be played at an out of town venue as I was going to be in the area for the upcoming holiday, so I have no idea what I'll be facing.

A word of advice though: after you've placed your mines, be sure the other player doesn't get a good look at the sheet you've listed the mine placement on. The newbie here did that. He kept trying to go over to my side of the table to "measure range". He got a glance at my placement sheet and started avoiding the side of the board where I had placed three mines. He ran into two mines after he "measured his range" wrong.

He accidentally let it slip after the tourney that one of my mines was too close to my DZ. I asked him how he knew that as I didn't detonate any near my DZ. It was a fun stammering session on his part. The placement sheet had already been thrown away and the mine in question was 7 inches from my DZ and 16 inches from the left of the DZ.

He's quickly becoming a rules lawyer and is getting negative comments from the other MW players as well as the M:TG/ D&D players in the shop when we have our MW tourneys.

Something about his "you only win because you have all those special units (an LI Targe, a DF trike)" or "I don't mind losing as long as he doesn't win (referring to another MW player who won the last tourney)" comments that are grating on everybody's nerves.

Yeah, though that goes both ways. I've played SS at two venues already, and one of the Liao players waited until after his opponent had deployed before marking which side of the board his mines were measured from. Only happened once (claimed he "forgot"), but he's the newest player at the venue and has the most losses of anyone. He's also begun misclicking his dials "accidentally." It seems every area has its trouble players.

Anyhow, my main goal with this time is to have a good time and try to get fellowship (a difficult task when most players are upstanding individuals). I'me considering this alternative as a whimsical, purely for fun army:
