Ok, I was just curious. Which units classify as uber units now adays. The reaosn I am asking is that on this board, I believe the view is skewed, but I was curious as to what you people consider the required and mandatory uber units.

Also, why do you feel those units are the best. Just curious.

Note I wouldn't consider this the end all, since certain specialized counter armies like dual chargers + repair, tank drop, or assault camper + arty armies aren't really covered. But the above is your base set of pieces for a combined arms force.

Why do I think this is the best set of peices to build an army around? Basically, it's the most consistant way to win with the least amount of tactical thought, the fewest weaknesses, and the least amount of reliance on dice rolling.

How did Seka Ward become uber? All I see is yet another SW Unique that starts with an 8 attack that becomes scrap after a charge from Arnis.

Unless you're counting on that 9 click Alpha Strike on that 5th click to save her. In which case you're much more hopeful than anyone else I can think of. Or naive. But naive is good these days. We need less cynicism around here.

Jacob Senn, Declan Devalis? Are you just listing mechs you like Squid? He asked for Uber peices, not fan favorites.

Highlanders have no real uber units but rather cheaper superb units that make up for it all in points.

Clyde? The guy who gets a 25 defense in hindering but who cares because an artillery pog needs to roll a 5 to nail him for 2 AP while the rest of his army stands outside 14" of him, points, and laughs?

Mason? The guy with a 21 defense for nearly 200 points?

Point me to a better SSw 'Mech than Jacob Senn for comparable points. I see good range, superb damage, excellent speed, good attack, and a good heat dial. There is only one downside to this unit for its point cost, and that is its vent rating. Looking at this 'Mech as an avid Swordsworn player, I cannot call it anything less than uber.

Same with Declan Devalis. 4 damage Pulse at a whopping 16" is simply unmatched by anything on the field. Couple with a very stable dial, superb heat, and a 23 Defense all for the bargain bin price of 255 points, and I think it's fair to claim that this nasty bugger is definitely uber.

All mechs (even Arnis) are not uber. Too many points for only one attack.

No VTOL's are uber (because of SH Aesir AA tank). Even if the SH Aesir is not in your army, the existance of the unit makes them not playable.
