Iam like one of the many players here who are disappointed with this recent move by Wizkids. While this is just a game, this is a game where we sunk in a lot of our hard earned money into. We could have just bought video games but we chose to play MWDA.
Wizkids promised to support unrestricted events but for how long? I understand that it is a marketing and sales move and that is totally understandable..but in this same view, why would Wizkids continue supporting events which wont really give them enough profit? Sanctioned events are the only times we get to use "legal" pieces. Sadly, this may end up like Magic the gathering. I mean how many WOTC supported events that is not type 2 is still supported? Pretty much Nil..and so would be the fate of unrestricted events..and so will be the fate of the MWDA pieces we currently have.
Each faction has its own strength and weaknesses...and while I espouse faction purity, I also encourage creative play (and that will include cheese armies...but hey, I like to face against cheese armies because it is a challenge.) If wizkids wants to give other players a chance..why not just come up with tournaments which require faction purity and tournaments which espouse creative play? Its like playing classic battletech..do we go with stock mechs or custom mechs? This way, each group is satisfied and if wizkids is sincere about the storyline's advancement, this action will definitely prove it. So what is in it for Wizkids? Definitely a higher participation and sales because:
1). Faction pure players who like the fluff of CBT and MWDA will be patronizing the books and buying more pieces for their armies and make different variations of it. It also gives them the motivation to experiment with unused pieces like VV1 Rangers and Hauberks.
2) Players who are for creative play will get to use their best combos and definitely be more competitive. If there is a tourney for newbies with out the more experienced players then this is definitely the show for them. Money wise? Players will buy more boosters knowing that they can use anything in this free for all open tournament. It can also advance the storyline by stating that these guys are free mercenaries or allied forces supporting a particular cause or faction.
In my opinion, this is a win-win situation. Faction purity restricts powerful pieces to their specific faction while espousing the weakness of that faction. Creative play is pretty much the current metagame in MWDA. But this is where you can bring your guns and definitely prove what your army can do..your personal army..like a custom mech in Classic BattleTech. It satisfies both wizkids and the players.
So for people who hate facing "SS Arrow IV's with DF Trikes infiltrating" armies, Faction pure tournaments will give them a fair chance of bringing in the power of their faction. Now if you have more DI Towed Field Artillery and Arrow IVs than your opponent..well creative play is for you.
Your input simply is not appreciated nor required..obviously you are for approved play and I respect your opinion. But your comment was unwelcome.
As such, a lot seems to be angry with people who are having difficulties with this new ruling. Fine..thats your view. Let us mwrealmers express our viewpoint.
Oh really? I do not see where stormfox has said "Xiao 3.14 Pi, you are a dog." so unless you can point that out to me I tell you quite being and over-sensative cry baby.
(Note, the above is an example of you being called an over-sensative cry baby, see how differently it is phrased than stormfox's? ::braceds for warning points:: )

NOte the little dog part..."his little dog part"...unless you're blind..then I wont have reiterate. And dont mind..Im not gonna be responding to this anymore..
Well duh, I can read, obviously, if I could not, what would I be doing on a forum? How would I be typing!? But you still did not answer my question. Stormfox made a general statement. *You*misinterpreted it and took it as offensive and that is *your* problem, not his.

Xiao,
Stormfox is saying here that he is tired of everyone feeling the need to open their own thread on the approved play rules changes. He is tired of it all taking up boardspace. This is not directed exlusively at you.
If you want yourself to fall into the dog category, then by all means, enjoy, but I personally think you fall into the everyone category.
Also, I would fully expect if I started a thread about this, he would come in and say the same thing, of which I would not be offended, as you are. Sorry, but understand he is trying to keep everything under control.
