I was thinking, I dont play MK anymore and have only a few figures left. I still have my beloved Venom Drgon for MK.
I was thinking of a scenario I may run for fun sometime and could use some help.
I was thinking of using the Dragon on it strongest level and having it be a native animal on some backwater world that attacks an advance combat force.
Here's what I was thinking:
2 players 450 point battle forces.
Both players may give the dragon up to 4 orders per turn on their respective turns 3 for movement, 1 for combat. The Dragon always heads to enemy forces on the field I.E. no shoving it in a corner.
The Dragons abilities:
Venom, Red circle on attack: Deals 1 click of damage to each unit in base contact with it's front arcs. Heavy and Harden armour reduce this damage.
Stealth, Black square on speed: The dragon may not be targeted by ranged combat attacks while in Hindering terrain. Also, may not be targeted by indirect fire and streak missile attacks.
Invulnerability, Grey square on defense: Use as Hardend armour in MW but increase the dragons defense by +3 when targeted by ranged combat. +1 when targeted by close combat.
Toughness, Orange square on defense: Treat like Heavy armour in MW.
Pole arm, red square on defense: Deals 1 click of damage when any unit comes into base contact with this arc.
Flight, Orange square on speed: Treat like Jump Jets in MW. It's up to you to decide if the Dragon may DFA. :)
Sounds fun. The only suggestions that spring to mind are about control of the dragon. It'll end up being a tug of war type thing. player one could use all four sections of the dragon to give it move order to get really close to the enemy. The other player on his turn would then move it back the other way. Try having one force working to secure it and the other out to destroiy it. make figures with the battle armor in their name immune to the venom and polearm as they are specially prepared to capture the creature. The capture force has to 3 out 4 sections before they are destroyed. The attacking force has to prevent the capture. Start the dragon about 24 in away from the attackers in hindering terrain.
I don't think you need to be that complex. Simply rule that the Dragon always moves to attack the closest figure . . .not being very smart, but make it ignore infantry for the purposes of the measurement . .. basically infantry are too small for it to pay attention to unless it is attacked by them.
Treat the Dragon as if it had some some form of Ruthlessness . .. it must destroy whatever it is engaged with before moving away, that keeps it from one player from getting it to move away from his units.
That sounds cool. I'm trying to find this old issue of Battletech magazine from long ago that had rules for incorporating huge monsters such as H.P. Lovecraft Elder Gods and things like Godzilla into the game. Was going to try to modify that for use with MW.
