Would you like to see MW use MK objective based victory conditions
This one comes from crazyh352.
I think MWDA lends itself pretty well to objective based scenarios, from the background as well as the multitude of different unit, movement and attack types.
Would you like that ?
If so, why ?
If not, why not ?
Basically stuff like we know from the old scenclubs, but as a seperate victory condition.
You see, things like holding a special point, destroying something, etc. Depends on the scenario :)
In MK 2.0, everything now resolves around objective tokens the relevant part of the game setup rules goes like this:
Quote
Now it’s time to place the objective tokens. Objective tokens are included in the Starter Set and represent strategic battlefi eld locations—called objectives—that each player is trying to control. For each game, use one objective token plus one objective token per player.
Place one objective token in the center of the battlefi eld and give each player one of the remaining objective tokens. Next, each player rolls two six-sided dice. Reroll ties. The player with the highest result is the fi rst player. The first player places his or her objective token on the battlefi eld. Players’ dice roll results also indicate how far away in inches they must place their objective tokens from the far edge of their deployment areas. Measure from the far edge of your deployment area to the center of the objective tokenwhen placing that objective token. Also, each player should choose a differently colored control marker that he or she will use during the game. Control markers identify which players control objective tokens.
Objective tokens are clear terrain.
it would be fine if they were played in separate games, with their own prize support like the pilot cards or something else. Have them with the storyline events or something.
Hail, We are always adding stuff like that into our games at the Venue, anyway. I have been asked, repeatedly, if WK will do it. I voted in favor of adding objectives, but I would like it to be sometimes with/sometimes without added objectives.
I've never liked the fact that there are only three ways to win a battle, and none of them have anything to do with what battles are usually fought for. So, yes, please.
I wouldn't mind seeing a MK-style objective thrown in once in a while. It would make for a more interesting game, as long as it wasn't done too often or made standard.
ok.. after picking my jaw up off the floor, i have to ask this.
what took you guys so freaking long?! military conflics -ALWAYS- have an over all objective. take and secure point A, turn point A into a staging point to take point B. rince, lather repeat adnausium unti the conflict is decided.
duh? wiz kids is only now getting around to this in Mechwarrior?
There would have to be quite a big objective token in order to be able to have two Mechs contest an objective.
I say NO this is a bad idea. I just played in MK today and I had my butt handed to me on a silver platter. My army was killed nearly twice, due to necromancy, and I still won because of objective tokens. It is silly and unrealistic.
My suggestion is to limit VC3 to 1 point per player per turn.
The old GW Epic used to have objective tokens in the game. It gives you a focus instead of: Destroy all of your opponents, try to cross the board to sit in his deploy zone, and see what you can keep alive. Random objectives would add more of a tactical flair to the game if you ask me. Give it more life and less juggernaut effect.
