The idea is to use Styrene Cards with Pilot Stats (abilities) as a modifier to non-unique mechs. It comes with its own points and will be added to mech points during army build computation.
That's why we have Unique units, the pilots are already built in.
But.
I can see a time of standardizing the disparate units, so, all CBAs do the same thing, all mechs of each type get the same weapons, and diversity comes from having a variety of units.
Oh wait, that was what CBT did. .....
~gets out his 20yo figures and starts playing with them~
Factions still retains their strength and weaknesses, this make the wide gap between CBT and MW:DA.
Anyway, along with the SEs of respective units they are all in the base of the mech. The Pilot Card simply is a modifier to the mech base stats, but not Pilots are made equal some would have stronger attack (like a clan pilot) some have good defense (HL pilot) some works well with Assault class mech but crapola on a light mech, etc. etc.
how about adding upgrade cards for equipment as well, maybe somthing that can change your primary attack into a 2 pulss attack for the first 3 clicks, then after that you go back to normal stats and add the point cost for the card to the other guys kill score?
the first time i thought of this was when i was coming up with ONMI Mech rules after i saw the way relics worked in MK 2.0. the idea was to have OMNI's start off at 100 pt. or less and you build them up with the add on's.
all in all i like the idea of slap patch add on's but i don;t think they shuld be done with the Unique'a and LE's
Horse hockey! The only time that applies is if the player is using a faction pure force! How many people who go to Nationals do you think will be fielding a faction pure force? And the ones that do ... how high do you think they will place in comparison to the others? There won't be many ... and there certainly will be far fewer who do well.
If WK REQUIRED faction purity at sanctioned tournaments things would be a LOT more interesting. No more rainbow armies fielding the best units from all the factions in order to get around all the different factions weaknesses. But alas that will never happen for the sake of 'making it easy for the new players to enter the game.'
*Looks around*
WHAT new players? I haven't seen a new one in ... well ... it has been a long while.

in CBT, factions do have weaknesses..THEY ONLY HAVE CERTAIN MECHS AVAILABLE TO THEM! THE IS DOES NOT GET CLANTECH! KURITA HAS KURITA MADE MECHS, NOT DAVION MECHS! there's your faction abilities and strengths right there....
The Daishi was a gift to House Kurita and House Davion from the Wolf's Dragoons. Plus Davion had all the rights in the world to alvage taht Clan Tech. I am imagining that 7th Batallion had forgotten about salvaging other's Mechs. Though he does have a point, I am big CBT nut and I know of that weakness and strength.
Capturing and Salvaging damaged battle units in CBT was always a great way for all the factions to cross over and eventually share their tech.
Think about it, what would our real world look like if the French and English did not use the "interrupter gear" that allowed the German Fokkers machine guns to shoot through the planes' propellers?
Captured tech that gets "Reverse Engineered" soon becomes "Field Modifications" for existing units that might have not been designed to use it.
