If I remember correctly trueborn clan women can not become inpregnated. In the Jade Falcon Trilogy books a trueborn women did something to herself so she could give birth.

i don't remember anything like that from the books. all i remember is that she did get pregnat i don't remember her doing anything special.
They are given long-term contraceptive implants so they can go at it whenever they want to and have no freeborn children floating around. The scientist you are refering to had her implant either removed or deactived. I can't remember which, its been too long since I read the books. And as for Trueborns, the scientists combine the genetic materials from both parents in the most beneficial way possible. In other words, they are bred to do what they do. Some are bred to pilot aerospace fighters, others are meant to be elementals.
First Trueborn Females "Parts" do not work, With few exceptions most cannot have children. But Diana Prydes Mother Was a trueborn member of the Scientist caste who altered her body so she could have children. Also They are basically cloned, They mix random Strains of select Genetic Material and then grow it in an artifical womb.
The genetic strains are only from the warriors who have a Bloodname. A Bloodname is like a last name except you do not start with one. You have to earn it through a Trial of Bloodright. Only Trueborns are allowed to compete, with one exception (see below)
Second, the trueborn scientist was Peri of Aidan's sibko. She had the changes done to her physiology reversed. That is how she gave birth to Diana, who was the first (and only, IIRC) freeborn to win a Bloodname.
It's been a while since I last read the Jade Phoenix trilogy (and if I have my way, longer still before I read it again), but IIRC what Peri did to herself (altered her body chemistry) sounds kind of like trueborns have some kind of chemically-induced infertility. Perhaps an implant of some sort that releases contraceptive chemicals?
Whatever it is, it's definitely reversible, because we have several instances of freeborn children of trubeonr warriors in the fiction.
The clans go to galactic peep shows and take "samples" from the bathrooms :) actually they use these things called iron wombs to combine an egg with a sperm.
No......just no do not make me challenge you to a trial of position. Also Phelan Kell won a bloodname, Though that disgrace of a warden should have just been shot.... and yes it did say chemically alter, prehaps they just make it so the females never start that cycle? it would get in the way of warrior duity anyways.
Actually it goes like this: trueborns are made from giftakes of the two bloodnamed warriors(male and female) and then they are kept in metal wombs(vats) before they are old beneath to be removed and rised by sibko parent.

Somewhat OT: Whatever became of Ranna Wolf (Phelan's lover)? Did she ever win a Bloodname?
Star Colonel Ranna Kerensky. ;)
To the Clans, sex is merely a recreational activity, no different from a game of one-on-one basketball with absolutely zero inherent sentimental value attached to the act. Given that trueborn females are rendered infertile through a reversible process, it isn't a problem.
