With the dawn of the Falcon's Prey stats, Naomi Katina actually looks pretty good. Starting defense of 22, 14 range, clear heat through the third click. Sure, she's slow and has okay primary damage, but she would work great in 450. Keep 'er in the rear lines and let your support do the job (or stick in an even better ranged combat 'Mech and let her support) and she'll do great.
Now, my rant.
Her Vulture is totally unfeasable, and the stats are inconsistent. According to her dossier, it mounts 6 ERMLAS and 4 LRM20 with a top speed of 96kph.
The Vulture's weight (60 tons) maxes out at 4 ERMLAS, 2 LRM20, and a top speed of 80kph. You couldn't possibly fit another 14 tons of equipment (PLUS the weight of the engine upgrades and ammo!), unless it's true that her Vulture really prances around with only 1.6 tons of armor and no heat sinks!
Hold on, a 22 defense on a 'Mech that has less armor than a Star League-era scout? A Clan 'Mech at that, and according to the dossier, its configuration hasn't been touched since the Invasion! And only a speed value of 6, whereas this thing could outrun many medium 'Mechs! The heck? And only three damage ballistic and energy? Four LRM20s would tear apart a freaking Atlas at range! And the heat issues! Zero heat sinks means that this thing will blow after the first shot, but her heat dial is clear through the third click!
Not saying that's necessarily bad (Good heat on a Highlander 'Mech!), but you'd think WK'd keep it more consistent! God knows I fire my LRM20s one at a time, but my heat still builds up like a mofo.
Actually using the good old CBT Mech design rules you can make that exact mech in that weight. Now remember this isn't a stock CBT mech and it has been modified over time.
4 clan LRM 20's w/ 4 tons of ammo
6 clan ER Med. Lasers
Engine: 9.5 tons of XL
Walking: 5
Running: 8
Armor: 9.5 tons of Ferro Fibrous
Internals: 3 tons of Endo Steel
Heat Sinks: 12 Double Heat sinks (24 dissipation means you can fire 3 of the LRM's without putting heat on the heat scale.)
Armor Pts.
Head: 9
Left & Right Torsos: 18 front / 5 rear
Center Torso: 28 / 9
Left & Right Arm: 20
Left & Right Leg: 25
Now lets look at the damage output. WK takes 10 pts. of CBT damage to equal 1 of theirs. 6 ER Med Lasers do a total of 30 pts so WK value is 3 Energy damage. LRM's now are tricky you take damage by how many missiles hit. So the max is 80, but how often do you roll 12 on 2d6 4 times in a row without the dice being loaded. So we'll take 40 as the average that hit. Wow WK messed that up by one point oh the humanity. Now yes I agree the ranges don't match but that's as far as I will agree with ya.
True. However, it is set in the Battletech universe and uses many
staple BT mech designs. Therefore, it's not unreasonable to
expect continuity in the fluff. That's what the dossiers are,
after all - fluff. ;)
oh forgot to add 24 tons for the LRM's and ammo, 6 tons for the lasers, and 2 tons for the heat sinks as the first 10 are free because they are part of the engine. Then add 3 tons for the Gyro and 3 for a cockpit and you've got your 60 tons.

First 1 pt of damage does not equal 10 points of CBT damage. If this were the case most battle armor and infantry would do maybe 1 pt of damage. There are also a ton of vehicles that also do more damage then they could possibly do using that system.
Ms. Tadaka aka I taped down the trigger on my Rac-5 would do 3 armor piercing if this were the case. There is no reason to how they determine how much damage a mech, vehicle or infantry deals damage. Nor is there any reason to how they determine movement or range.
