The following events will be run under MechWarrior: Age of Destruction rules.
For the month of October, the following prizes will be available for specific events. Make sure your retailer and Envoy know what events you want to participate in, so that they can schedule now! LE's may show up again in different tournament format types.
Please Note: These kits are subject to change without notice. Prize kit contents may vary depending on figure availability. While WizKids will make every attempt to ensure that every venue who signs up for the appropriate event receives the prize kit as stated, last minute changes and substitutions may occur.
What's the point of putting up the prizes if most of them are TBD? I thought that during the chat Kevin said that they were going to keep the prizes on time. Why can't they just post them now?

They probably know what the prizes are going to be, they just don't want to show what they are until they are "revealed" in a sneak peak or something.
With Annihilation running a month behind, any information about it will be released in a agonizingly slow trickle. :ermm:
Agree with Ravenankh. It hasn't been sneaked yet, so the might as well wait until they are. However, TBD does have an element of suspense to it...... :p.
is it me or are the loki and malice much more common as the novacat, believe only 2 Novacats as prize and atleats her pilot 3 times?
im not sure if there is a balance between mechs and their pilots from FP. but i could b wrong, im glad we finally get reengineered laser
Sad when the little plastic cards are more valuable than the mechs.
sorry to disagree however IMHO the pieces that have been offered throughout the lifetime of the approved tournaments have always had a limited appeal. to either the; Faction collectors, full collection collectors, ebay sellers, metagame piece collectors.
since the advent of the cards this has expanded interest across the 'MechWarrior spectrum so that all Factions an Houses have a reason to make an appearance at their local venue to spar for the current piece of equipment. in some ways WK have underestimated the importance of equipment cards to the game. i have only ever seen 2 Celina Santos', a couple of re-engineered lasers an no concussion ammos. this is because they, as CECs, are universally acceptable to all Factions an Houses.
as a RotS player i was very grateful when the tourney prizes were the KotS (due to losing my KotS plus pilots an cards) so this gave me the opportunity to regain my collection. this was of limited benefit to other players who only play BR, Liao, Davion, Steiner, Nova Cats, Jade Falcons etc.
i agree for those who purely play just a number of factions except the set theme (iimho kurita-rots) still they are good playable pieces wich are if u cant use em very tradeable, so far i have experienced have the Knights always been above average pieces with high attack, solid defense (most command) and now they come with abilities. bet some of us wish all old uniques would return in similar mech and with abilities and who knows we might see a few,

blabhalbha.
Yeah, I play ROTS almost exclusively. I'm just saying these two prizes along with the Duke novacat, audrey, and their pilots are just so common as prizes lately. I was able to get the entire lance within one month by playing in tournies at the venue I go to, it just seems a little much.
So when I say the reengineered laser is worth more.. it is.
I'm sure nobody is disputing that it is worth more. It was more the sad comment. Why is it sad that they are rarer and thus more valuable than the 'Mechs? Isn't that good? Isn't that the idea of prize support?
Why don't we just admit what no one is willing to say...
"For crying out loud, this is the third (fourth?) month in a row that we're getting the Esperanza Loki or the Peacemaker Malice as prize-support. Geez louise, why can't WizKids have any other prizes than the Loki and the Malice?"
Okay, now that I've said what you all have been dancing around, I'll get to my point. I go to the games to have fun, try to win a prize if I win, and spend time with friends. One of those three reasons for going is essentially taken away because once you've won the mech, you don't need it again, unless you're going to put it on eBay (which, I might add, is anyone's right). If you are, more power to you.
When I bought Firepower boosters, I got CEC cards...LOTS of CEC cards. And I got most of the rare ones. I'm missing one Pilot Card, and maybe two or three CEC cards, but none of the ones that are being given as prize support. If I win a CEC Command, but I already have the Command CEC from a booster, it isn't really that big a deal. Luckily, they've only released the cards once, but the Loki and the Malice are being churned out so much that they're not really Limited Editions anymore. They're gold based...ooooooooh, aaaaaaaaaah. I've been fortunate to win one of each...and I've promptly sold my silver-based versions because I'm not a collector. I don't have to have one of each mech, vehicle, infantry, card, etc. If I have a gold-based Loki, I don't need the Silver-based one. If I already have a Gold-based Loki, then I don't need another one. Maybe I'll choose the Malice, but if I already have the gold-based Malice, what's left? Either I choose one of the mechs I ALREADY have, or I choose the card.
Admittedly, I understand that WizKids could look at us all and say, "Okay gang, you don't like the fact that we're releasing the Loki and Malice again? Fine, we'll just stop sending out prize support at all." Now they really can't do that because prize support is the life-blood of this game. Remove it and 50+% of your players dry up. But where is the excitement? How about a gold-based Grinder Nova Cat? That would be kinda cool. Or maybe a Gold-based Yami Shiro. Granted it would devalue the silver-based convention version, but it would be a different version that would generate some interest.
I think WizKids needs to rethink their prize support (again). At one time, we played for one Championship prize and one Fellowship prize, once a week, for four weeks. During those four weeks, if you won, you got the same prize. This got old fast. The redemption pieces...I guess we won't go there, although they were popular, especially for those people who couldn't win or be chosen as the Fellowship person of the week. When they changed the prizes to reflect different weeks, it became a little more interesting (again), but with AoD / Firepower, they've fallen into a pit of the same prizes each week. Hopefully, with Annihilation, they can change this.
Either I choose one of the mechs I ALREADY have, or I choose the card.
I'd take the card if I didn't have it or if it was something worth having >1 of. If not I'd just donate my prize to a newbie, or allow the picks to move up a level so 3rd place got a prize too. Who says you have to take a prize?
Everyone was complaining they didn't get 'Mechs. Now they are getting 'Mechs (albeit the same ones). This was a curtailed set so fewer prize pieces, understandably.
But don't worry, starting with Annihilation, the chances are there won't be many 'Mechs at all featuring as prizes, most of the prizes will probably be cards. But then nobody will be happy with that either will they?
I'm actually quite happy with the way things are right now (and the likely change coming with Annihilation). When I have the prizes then when I play, I play for pride and the fun of it. I'm not exactly building the kick backside armies I built when the prizes meant more but I'm having more fun, if anything.
Now after several weeks of the same prizes, half the venue have the Loki. Those that don't have it have an excellent chance of getting it. And it's no longer worth $50+ on ebay.
