I like the RD Skandas... too bad they get obliterated by a 5 damage hit (which is very likely with such a low defense). Plus once they lose their IT, I don't think they're going to hit much, really only interesting to use with RD pride on the initial or second click. I might just get a handful of them because I like the sculpt.

None of them are overly impressive - homing beacon on the HD version is nice,
but the 8 attack stinks! The HS version is, probably, the best of the lot (with 9
starting attack and AP), along with the LI. The RD version, starting with IT,
seems better suited to an anti-vehicle role. For the most part, they're in the
meh category. :ermm:
It pains me to agree with you. If the RD one went up to 4 damage I could see use for it but right now it gets the attack of a Hawk Moth for less damage
I hate to say it, but aside from the uniques, I'm not seeing much reason to buy a case of Vanguard when it releases :ermm: I think I'll just get a case of Dominion instead, and buy singles from Vanguard.

this had better produce good units for Liao, uniques and nons alike. My good buddy who loves the faction is counting on it. The uniques rock, but a good number of nons are hits and misses. <keeps his fingers crossed fill next preview>
One nice thing about the Skandas is that they're all in the 40-50 point range, and have 12-14" ranges. So they could conceivably be used as a long-range formation booster. Granted, that's not terribly useful in most highly competitive armies, but it could come in handy in a variety of fun or faction-pure armies.
For highly competitive play, of course, the units are utterly worthless. But so are approximately 80-90% of all units made.
All the LRM Batteries are excellent. 14" range on the HD and HS variants make them natural formation-helpers, which actually raises the relative competitive strength of their Kelswas and Kinnols. But even with 12" ranges, the JF and LI variants are no slouches. There isn't a significant difference between the old and new JF LRM Batts, but the old one is still superior. HK really could have used one of these.
This round of Skandas actually manages to be less impressive than the FP versions, with the notable exception of the RD one, which has comparable starting stats to the other Skandas, but somehow finishes much stronger.
Well CNC doesn't get vehicles this set so of course we don't get Skanda's and of course we didn't get any Ballistic type infantry. By my calculations, that leaves 5 sets of infantry left and 4 sets of vehicles. Any speculation?

I don't mean to sound like some raving tree hugger, but this aspect of producing 1-2star filler units in a collectible game ain't good for the environment. Waste of plastic.
Great job on WK for producing a seemingly higher ratio of useful units over duds for each successive expansion, but a boo and a hiss for those that make through. Its a work in progress I guess.
Once, in more innocent times, I used to tell myself, that the point cost system makes every unit in the game useful in the right circumstance. Not always so when you look at FP Kosis, our friend Flavio, SW Uziels, FP Shadowhawks, Pathfinders, Elite Infantry, VW1 Rangers, Wasps, Aniceto Tuvidas, and much much more. I only played those coz I was a newbie. Boy did I get a lot of attention in my venue long ago. Bought some of those too from a guy who said that they were "useful". Tsk. I got so many of those units... lol
Again, here's to hoping that we'll get more (higher ratio) non-unique stuff that people will acutally use in combat! :-)
