As a former BPR fan... i would like to know how to combat chariots. I think that chariots would e present and in large quantities during the campaign. Putting the messenger in a chariot would be trouble for the BPR side. So I'd like to know how to kill the passenger and the best way to kill chariots...

To answer your questions, young Padawas, you must first understand your enemies.

Chariots are difficult to overcome. They ignore single-base & cavalry models when moving, have high Attack, Defense & Damage values (most of the time), & they protect the passenger inside from harm (most of the time). It would be fairly easy to get the messenger off the battlefield if mounted in such a vehicle.

It wouldn't be sporting, but it would be easy.

To overcome a Chariot, the best chance you have is to shoot it. & shoot it. & shoot it. & when you're done with that, shoot it again! Another option is to get a heavy duty fighter (with a deep dial & high stats) onto the rear/side arc of the Chariot & beat it down.

One of my friends noted that in some cases, it's easier to trash the side arcs of a multi-dial figure ('cause they aren't as deep as the front/back dials), but that depends on what you're using & what you're fighting. I would go after the front arc of a KI Charger over the sides, any day.

When the Chariot is successfully hit on its side/rear arcs, the opposing player rolls a D6 - on a result of 5+ (I think), the passenger takes damage as well, reduced according to the defense abilities of both the Chariot & the passenger. Also, when the Chariot is destroyed, the passenger automatically takes D6 clicks of damage. Chariots can actually help you out with that rule. I wiped out a BPR War Wagon with Pierce & Trolls, & it's Troll Chieftan passenger was reduced to its Regen slot by the Chariot's destruction. I then wiped him out with another Troll.

Finally, having said all this, just remember that capturing/killing the messenger is not the absolute victory you may think it is. You still have to destroy the accompanying army...the messenger is simply worth double his normal VP's (triple if captured).

Basically, as already said, your best best is to shoot the living you-know-what out of that chariot. Either that or use a chariot of your own to get in the way. It cant ignore that.

I think the first scenario is kinda dumb. Basically, someone could just totally ignore the idea of the messenger and just leave him in the protection of the rest of the army. Then its basically just h2h. Sure, they'll get 22 pts. for killing an utem guard lol, but you can get a heck of a lot more by wiping them off the face of the planet.

Ok here recently my eyes were opened to a chariots ability to win the canadian nationals. So, I have been playtesting it to the fullest. One Weakness is range but, a most crucial part is the blast through! If you hit the chariot and it does not have tuffness or Inv for like 5 damage and then hit the passenger with the blast through damage the chariot is severly hampered! The chariot is basically putting all your eggs in one basket and hoping you dont get nailed!
