I was playing this kid in a 300 pt. tournament who is notorious for trying to cheat in the littlest of ways (by picking up figs and putting them back in the wrong spot, ect.). This time though, part of his 300 army consisted of about 6 *amazon mancatchers and 1 *shade. Now this means he can move 10 figs in one turn. The problem was- heonly brough 3 action tokens with his army! I guess the justification in his head was, he had a 300 pt army, so three actions, but come on! I tried to use as many of my tokens to mark his figures as I could, but I only had eight, and I push sometimes, so I can't mark them all. It was almost impossible to keep track of who had taken an action. Don't get me wrong either, he isn't a stupid player (as this game was for 1st place). He obviosly knew his army would take more than three tokens.
It's amazing what lengths players will go to for the dishonest win.
We have a player with the same situation at a venue where I get to play once in a while....Solved this problem by going to JoAnn Fabrics and picked up 100 colored stones for $2 and passed them out....Also if you have a Wal Mart near they have them in packs of 50 for a buck...Hope this helps.....
yeah, that is a classic way to cheat. not enough markers and then you argue about what has moved. if your opponet dosent have enough markers make sure that you give him some. kinda stinks that you have to do that, but that is the way people are.
AHAHAHHA dude thats my friend Nick lol. He really isn't a cheater hes just... umm dim shall we say. Personaly i don't really know how he pulled off first with that POS army he had lol. Next time ask Blake for a bunch of counter from the shop to use.
This is the second time ive seen a post about him here haha.
Or by some crazy form of Astral luck someone was using the exact same army as him and lives in the same state and it happened at the same time.
Nope you hit "him" right on Stormy. I'm not sure how he beat the other armys to get to the game we were in, but his army was perfect against mine (plus I played the GA a little too agressively that last game). Don't get me wrong, he plays well, I just notice a couple things he trys to do every now and then and I know he's smart enough to know that his army's going to need a lot of counters. Point is, I shouldn't have to ask our venue owner for counters he should have counters to mark his army or he shouldn't play that army. It's just about the little things that could make everything a whole lot easier.
IMO the minimum counters one should have is twice the # of turns they'll get +2 for every figure with quickness. Basicly making it so that every figure -can- be pushed. I'm more likly to go with just a large # of them, plenty big enough for my army, my opponents army, and a few more armies to boot :)
Well, Jocan and Stormy, I have a few things to say about this.
First of all, Stormy, I am not sure who you are in real life - were you there Wednesday night?
Jocan, you can be sure that eveything said about Nick on this thread will get back to him. I played against him and had him stall big time against me, I posted a thread and didn't use his name and it got back to him (this is what Stormy means when he says it's the second time he's seen threads posted about Nick on these boards - the first one was me).
That said, I am not going along with the "Nick is just dim" theory put up by Stormy. Nick knows what he is doing. He is an older kid, high school aged, and is not stupid. He does what he does on purpose. This last week the person who was tallying points totals (who was not the warlord, BTW) messed up a little bit - I was watching him. He got the points right, but should have paired me with Nick for the second battle. I was so happy not to have to play against him that I did not speak up. The absolute worst game of MK I have ever had was going against Nick for 1st place, and him stalling. If I had one more turn I would have beat him, and he was absolutely going to lose the battle. It was no accident - he knew he was in trouble from the moment we put our armies on the table.
There are a lot of things this venue does that makes me not want to go there. It's a bummer, because the people are so nice.
The tables are way too narrow. Not even 36". So one match my opponent flew a Hirophant to the middle of the board, and controlled the whole dang thing. I could move 2" out of my start area without being in his arc. The terrain is weird, too. I need to start bringing my own - that's my fault.
The warlord is not a frequent MK player, and doesn't really know the rules. I don't mind this so much, because Blake's a nice guy, and I really like him. He listens to me when I explain things that aren't right. My lobbying got him to change the house rule that if no damage is done to any figures, the person who built their army with the fewest points wins.
This venue is OK, it's just not a "serious" MK environment. It could be. But last week I spent 10 minutes waiting on a ruling about whether or not my demoralized mancatcher lost her captive. I mean, I have had to break out the Warlord E&R each time I've been there for the last 4 times.
And Nick? Nick knows the rules. He tries to bend them to his will. He hasn't stopped stalling, either. Now he calls the warlord over for rules clarifications when he already knows the answer...
If that was truely a way to weasle an advantage that's just sad. if it was truely a cheating ploy the warlord should be informed. you do have a right to a fair game within the rules.
The Rabbidgerbal would have just tore some paper or begged/borrowed some gems.
another thing is when players with "limited" memory reach for a figure remind them of it's firing arch as they pick it up or even offer to place a stone or a finger until it's returned. of course at that level if it's really needed it's just no fun and a game any longer.
our store was in the mall. and i before the turney i would go and get me a soda. when it got the change i asked for just pennys (the look on the casher ladies face when i asked her for 98 cents in pennys was worth it right there) but back on subject, so then i just use heads for turn taken tails for pushed. that was i have a whole bunch of cheap markers.
