I would play Mummy with a Bond Maker * and other MS, or like 42up said, Hamburglar would be awesome. It could be Conquest, or in Rebellion, in a large battle.
I wouldn't use it in regular rebellion games (200, 300 points).
I don't play Dungeons, so I won't make comments about its efficiency there.
I knew you would say something like that, but I would like to use it in a large battle, with a Bond Maker or Hamburglar. The major problem about the Mummy is the speed. The rest of the stats are not that bad, and the dial is pretty deep and stable.
Anyway, I know your rigid quality patterns :D Your title should be:
Brastar - Headmaster of the Quality Control Department and official Flamer of Underdog Figs. :D
i like to use the mummy in hindering terrain,it is slow and not the greatest figure, but if it does get its ancient hands around your neck you are finnished. i just think its a silly looking piece, like a goblin grenadier wrapped in several rolls of wet toilet paper.
the Mummy is only playable with a *bondmaker/Hamburglar so yes it's good in rebellion only consider that his cost is 104 (114) points and not 77.
that makes him only good in 300+ battles.
The mummy is absolutely terrible without a force-march. With FM, it is fair. It's terrible in MKD too, due to it only having enough AP to move 2 squares before attacking. Easy 77 points for most Heros.
Even being a mummy 'fan' just cause he's a never used unique, I must say he's pretty crummy in most situations. Essentially worthless in a _standard_ 200 point game, and most rebellion for that matter. Some scenarios make him usable in Rebellion, whenever range is heavily restricuted. As stated before, almost _needs_ to be paired with marcher (hamburgler is best) to get some use.
In Conquest, this guy is worth his salt. Match him with hamburgler (or Shyft Fiend if you really like tossing around points) and 3 or 4 Std/Tough Throttle Worms. Now you've got a formation that _must_ be addressed by opponants heavy hitters, causing them to waste a _lot_ of actions killing off figures that aren't central to your army. Can't say he's more useful than a ML'd Pyre Spirit Though, although his dial is a bit more robust. His regen slots pretty much suck since they don't really get him back to anwhere useful.
and finally, at least he's better than the Champion!
I really like the Mummy. Besides chanting "Imhotep..Imhotep.." to unnerve my opponent when I start rolling his attacks the dude has 12 in his attack for THREE SLOTS!
That means you can push him, and push him, and push him, and he consistently delivers wads of damage with strong hitting ability.
Plus he has venom, and that's always a good thing. Opponent got toughness or invulnerability? No problem. Imhotep slaps them for 4 clicks (ends up being 2 or 3 after reduction). Enemy STILL got toughness? Imhotep pushes and slaps them AGAIN for 4 clicks. If a figure still has damage reduction capability after eating 8 clicks worth of damage it's time to consider using some other attackers to soften the thing up a bit.
But unfortunately The Mummy does need support in the worst way. A blocker to keep ranged people from shooting him to death, and a force marcher to get his slow butt into b2b contact.
My suggestion is The Mummy, with a couple of yellow potbellied gremlins (they're cheaper than sprites, but pretty much worthless), and a yellow bondmaker.
That's a lot of points to help one figure in Rebellion games, but in conquest it's awesome, due to the fact that once all 4 base an opponent, Imhotep can do a close combat formation for 7 clicks (minus toughness or invulnerability of course), and hopefully get some venom damage in too.
I'm so tired of people putting down the Mummy. He's really a pretty decent fig (yes there are better and the Wraith is one of my favorites for less points), that is only hampered by slow movement.
If you really want a figure to put down, try a Shyft Matriarch, Necromancer, Necropolis Judge, or Inquisitor. Now THOSE are a waste of points.
If Im not mistaken, I think During Week 3 In the Vampire Civil War, the whole map is going to be considered hindering. so......with the mummy's stealth and magic immunty wouldent he be immune to all ranged attacks(Except of course for shock wave and explosive damage) ? Making the mummy pretty formidable. IMO.
