Does anyone have some good ideas for a sneak attack army and the best sneak attacker to use? I don't have a mortis so I use Uhlrik in terms of uniques, for nons I go with the **nightfiends(fast w/quickness and fairly solid stats especially for a necro and the most amazing scupt ever). I give them some LI to hide behind until they reach the target and a charger or 2 for bodyguards. Oh, and SA isn't as bad as I thought it would be in conquest, they are great to take out the command unit(who is always unique) and harass titans really well(no spin and then no move+attack when they breakaway). Any other ideas?
I have found that having 2 sneak attackers can work very well. First you send one into the enemy. They will push to spin and avoid the big damage. Then send the other one in to the pushed figure.
Sneak attackers are Unique killers.
Also, don't forget that you can ML an opposing figure's back arc onto your Sneak Attacker, and whack him in one turn.
Hiding behind an LI figure is good, but you can hide behind any blocker and get the same effect. Try leading your Nightfiends into battle using Shades or Mancatchers. It's a lot cheaper than LI figs, and they both can move for free.
One last thought, even if an opponent is protecting his back arc (like with another figure), a Sneak Attack can still be useful into a side arc. You don't get to double the damage, and your opponent will not consider you as large a threat. You might be able to get a couple of shots in before he decides to deal with your Sneaker, and by then it would be too late for him. And, even if he is an experienced player, he will still have to use an action to turn his figure to engage. Using up your opponents actions is never a bad thing...
thanks, and basing the side arc is a good idea, it basicly caused a living balista to sit in one spot half a game. I like the idea of surrounding a guy with pikemen, but I would need to give them a FMer that I don't have for BPR(eg, hammerskald) otherwise I just think they are too slow, but cool in every every other respect
uh, i know they can push and spin to avoid that 6 damage outta a nightfiend or 10 outta mortis, but they ought to push and try to break away, even if they fail they get to freespin, correct???thats whats i read in rule book
well spotted blklbldth, you are correct. This has probably been mentioned, but mortis = excellent body gaurd for any unti with mag lev, probably magus. When a unit bases magus, lev it over to the sneak attackr, with back arc facing, attack, and voila!
how can u sneak attack a titan when he has no rear arc? and im pretty sure that u could do 2 actions wit a titan as long as thier not in base wit ne opposing figure. correct me if im wrong(which usually happens, im im still kinda rusty on the titan rules)
monkeycheese: I didn't sneak attack the titan for damage, I moved into base contact with an SA Fig, therefor he gets no free spin, Then I can attack it's sides(for normal damage) without worrying about being hit back. Then they guy was so busy with other stuff he never got around to moving the Titan again until Vladd based it to finish it off.
blklbldth: Yeah, the figs can push to break away, and if they fail they get a free spin, but it does make them push and make them waste an action that could have been used to attack back or something else useful to them.
i was referring to when a fig is based by a SAer, he cannot attack or move unless he breaks away first, i was only saying it was probably smarter to try to break away, because you not only get the freespin, but you have a chance of breaking away
What about a revenant priest or mind theif to MC an opponent into base contact? That way you don't have to worry about them mayb ramming you out of ML or something else and you can do this a few turns before ML somtimes.
part of the Magic Confusion Special Ability says that you cannot move the fig into base of one of your figs....plus you have to hit them w/ the attack (which the mind theif might have problems doing against a decent fig)
