I'm planning on playing in the week 2 tournament and I can't decide whether I want to field an Ulhrik charger or the Order of Ulhrik. I was wondering if anybody could tell me which figure would more effective in a 300 point match.
I would probably have to recommend playing the Ulhrik charger because he can always break away from an enemy more easily and he is mush faster at the start of the battle. Plus the Ulhrik Charger lives longer and has a much better chance at getting first strike on an opponent.
On the other hand, OoU has Command and his flight will allow his to remain unhindered by the blocking terrain. If you manage to make b2b outsie of an opponent's rear arc, they won't recieve a free spin thus making them waste an action on a spin of some sort. And Unlike the UC, the OoU gets a free spin if someone is foolish enough to base him. He is also cheaper and more cost efficient. Allowing your army to have one more or maybe two more figures up to twenty points.
I would go with the Ulhrik Charger just because I think he looks cooler. And he rides on a skeleton horse, that just kiks @$$.
Another point that was not mentioned is that the OoU will get the breakaway on anything but a 1 because of the flight so with that in mind the only movement advantage that the Uhlrick Charger has is that it can move much farther with charge.
Why not just use both? :D
I think it's also interesting that the campaign rules dont say you cannot use both OoV and OoU in the same army. I think I'm going to try
Hrm. Very tough question. If the Charger had 3 slots of 4 damage like the Order it would be a no-brainer. With only one slot of 4 damage, I'm always scared to push the Charger.
The way I'm evaluating them is by which one is better suited to take down the Order of Vladd. In that regard, it's all about the Charger. Getting that first hit in is hard to beat. Back him up with a Corrupted Priest so you can get back to that 4-damage slot, and I'd say the Charger is the way to go.
Oh yeah, I neglected to mention, I will use charger because he will still only need greater than a ! to break away even when he does lose Charge. The Order, however will require a four or better to break away once he loses flight.
