I used the thin strips of hindering terrain so my krugg could steeplechase if needed and Corpheus' attack is high enough that he doesn't mind shooting through trees more often than not.
Except for Podo everything moves 10". Podo stayed near the battle, but out of it. Anytime something needed to be healed they would retreat behind Podo and wait for the Medic.
It was late, but neither of us could think of much that could stop, or slow him much cinsistantly except for ML/Ram, venom swarm and continually throwing high speed chargers B2B.
However in 200 points you can't reliably ram him since you can ram him once with 2 actions to ram him from 22" away, or twice if he is 12" away(but by the tim he was that close atleast one ram was always slowed too much to catch him).
And venom swarm is too slow and/or expensive. If you use Rancid Bloodsuckers or Bond makers/throttle worms or trogs its too slow to catch him, if you use Hammy you can catch him if he shoots instead of doubling his movement. Venom swarm isn't even that effective because he breaks away on anything but a 1 as long as he has bound.
Double moving Nightmare reapers and lt.cavaliers/lancers do continually keep him pushing to break or attack or being attacked, but by the time he can be based he has already gotten an attack off, possibly crippling one of the mounts. If you do base him and he breaks his superior movement can easily get him into charge range of his healer and leave afew of your people vunerable to being rammed. Plus unless you start using CC formations your pieces need an 8+ to hit while he needs a three or better.
IMO, in 300 the way to beat Corpheus is ml ram. For 200 points, HOST + decent support could crush him. Because he is blass jawed, one nice hit from HOST and hes TOST!!!!:D :D :D
In th Order of the LIon post, there are some great armies with HOST that could take out Corpheus. And, stormy is always an option.
Note: ML ram is weaker v corpheus, because flame can eat ml alive, so do not use ml in 200 pt
HOST is an option, but it is arguably too powerful, and beating an arguably too powerful piece with an arguably too powerful doesn't prove much. Although I will look into this tonight.
Storm golem went down pretty easily when we tried it. Stormy had two enhancers and Corpheus managed to position himself outside of Stormy's arc and in range to shoot both of with F/L and double splash Stormy. Stormy's formation moved to let him get a shot, but accidently got into ramming distance. The Krugg rammed Stormy and an enhancer after Corpheus pushed to hit Stormy. Stormy pushed to hit the Krugg, and something based Corpheus. The Krugg pushed to hit Stormy(think he finished it then, not entirely sure) and the centaur moved close to Corpheus. Something based the medic and attacked(missing) Corpheus. Corpheus killed what was on him and podo moved up. If Stormy wasn't dead by now he died this turn.
Keep in mind we were both tired by this point, and were both making mistakes left and right, so if we played that game again it might not end up that way again.
Rynth, did you try multiple Scorpems and a strong Healer outside the 22" range?
You could have 2 scorpem taking care of Corpheus, and one to chase the Healer.... When the scorpem goes down.. bring to the healer... With 1 single Shot the Corpheus is tost.. just make sure the healer is busy with harassers or completly nulified...
Just a Thought...
Atr least he has MI, and this nulifies Yo-yo (would to powerful, even with Bakus already is) and also messes up the big healers in the game....
The ideia is, a Gunner will take first shoot.. but the other will reatliate....
The way to take down corpheus is going to be similar to the way you take down a striker. You put it in a situation where it has to push for some reason and when it sits there glued to the table you smack it really hard over the following 2 turns.
I like the concept of a haunted wrath golem, it's cute. I just wonder what it's paint job looks like?
I also think that this is going to be a passing fad when people realize that the thing is expensive and can't take getting hit. If he werent magic immune it would be a different story altogether.
Striker is immune to 1-click wonders (Toughness)
and can be Magically Healed.
Two things Corpheus lacks.
Note as well that Corpheus' stats really drop after taking 3 damage.
All you have left at that point is not much more than an Amotep Gunner.
Which means his first three clicks cost about 100 points.
Striker having Toughness and getting in his best clicks in click 3 and 4 , is still the better fig IMO.
