Ok in another thread about prizes for tournies ( Kinninson's thread) one thing keeps comign up over and over again. People want to play against the best players so that leads us to the question of
Name the Top 5 players that you would want to play agianst and or the best 5 players there are.
Well.. as people throw out the name of "Wkura's tank" as an army - I'd want to play against him.. not to see if I can beat him - but to see if he is as good as the hype would have me believe.. :)
Other players that would be good to play against - for bragging rights of course.. would be DemoMonkey, 42up (I dunno if he is anygood - but he thinks he is), me!!! (not that I'm any good, but if I roll as badly against my self as I normally do - it should be an easy win), and as a number 5 player.... I think that I'd want to play against ... I dunno who number 5 is...

oh yes, you will have your chance....I will be touring cons this summer (as long as I do not get selected for corp cadre that is....)
Who would I like to play well....I can think of a few, not b/c I think they are good, just b/c I would either just like to play them or just to be them in the ground-
elvish sage-beat
hitman-just play
bshugg-just play
yandros-b/c he started it ;)
JM-oh yes....
Top 5 that I have faced in no real order
1) Wkura
2) Bshugg
3) Golempower
4) Alcatraz
5) ?
Top 5 I want a shot at once again in no real order
1) 42up: If you make it to Origins or Gen Con your going to have guys lined up around the block.
2) JM: had a shot during Pirates but i would like a normal game
3) Paul: You have the jacket but I want my Demi back
4) Hitman: we tried to get it together a few times
5) Tie between Borg and Gummy: I never figured out how gummy's army was suppose to work and he did not show when we went to Knoxville and Borg well I just want a shot to get a demi with Borg's name on it.
A week of games with myself think of it a mind exactly like yours playing you that would be very exiting and think of all the mistakes you could uncover by playing your self since when i play someone i notice there mistakes not mine
and yes i consider myself good enough
and all of you should also consider yourself as good any other player
I never thought i was good at backgammon or poker until i realized that i beat an israeli at backgammon and earned 15 cokes off a poker game by bluffing most of the way and one lucky hand
Who I think are the toughest opponents I've faced...
of course, not in any real order. Some of these guys don't play anymore either.
1. Barrel
2. Bshugg
3. Wkura
4. Paul Reiser
5. Golem Power
6. Python
7. Akiro
8. Jason Mannington
9. Ejohns
10. Keegantir
Who's the top 5 around? That's a very subjective question open to much debate. Obviously, the rankings are a decent measure for this list. At least in ideals. However, the rankings are flawed and easily manipulated. Until an accurate ranking system appears I guess the top 5 guys will be decided by the individuals. There's also the point that not every body plays in sanctioned play. But until they do....I don't see all the unknown layers as a factor. As far as I'm concerned, I've played some of the best, not only in the United States, but in the world. Sometimes I win...sometimes I lose (okay a lot of times I lose).
I know that there are some guys I'd like to take a shot at. I love the game. And I love the competition. I'd like to play all of the guys listed above again. Good competition improves my game (and god knows my game needs improving).
Top five for me has to be from among those I know; how can I rate those I only know by reputation?
Flying-Moose: Like Spock, when he looks like he’s just sitting there… he IS doing his calculations. Altan: Don’t let his banter fool you. Megadeth: A very nice opponent, he’ll even wash your head before he hands it back to you. Dfazman: Big Bri, another very nice guy… wait, what’s that in you hand? Why am I bleeding? Uh-oh, I’m dead.
And last but not least, though he is the youngest
Balduran II: But don’t tell him I said it. Since he’s my son I already hear “Oh, back to school for you! I ooowwwnnn you!” enough. :) BTW, you’ll never hear it; thank goodness he learned his manners from his mother! But I get special treatment as the Old Man.
There is one caveat about rating player skill in this game as it stands, and that’s the ambiguity of timed games. More than the vagaries of the dice, the ever present question of how long is too long when it comes to playing your turn means, IMO, that the true test of MK gaming skill will have to wait until the official format of competition is changed to standardize how many turns a game really lasts.
(You didn’t think I could stay off my own personal soap box on that, did you Altan? :))
I can't beleive i even made someones list, thats funny, LOL. The only thing i have a half decent ranking on the main site is Composite (207th in world) and sealed booster (18th in the world).
My top five are thus:
1) 42up
Just to knock him down a peg or two.
2) Borg
It would be fun to play against a person as calculating as him.
3) Hitman
CO-Created the strategy that turned MK on its head.
4) Frenzy
Even though he's from the same country as me, i still wanna play him. I qualified but couldn't make it, i'd love to play him anyways, :D.
5) Balduvian
It would possibly be the only match i've played in when i would be CERTAIN the rules would be completely followed.
I don't know who I'd play, but the best 5 i've played are:
1. Roger Shrubber (always up to date on cheese)
2. THE-FOOT (follows Rogers lead)
3. poika (knows how to curse your dice, good with chariot)
4. Motormouth12 (never stops thinking of ways to beat me)
5. Drac88 (can't think of any reason why, just needed to fill out my list)
Actually, now I would put Apocalypse 2 as #5. He plays a mean Arty Tank.
Actually, i'd probably want to play whoever i'd have a (just about) guaranteed win against. i can't stand the thought of losing. its good for me, but i still don't like it.
okay, be prepared, the only thing that will stop me and my gonzales crew (and maybe a few ags) ( ;) ) from going to a major con is if I am on corp cadre.....yes being a cadet does suck sometime. But being able to instill the fear of sophomores into the freshmen for the first time will be so sweet. And boy...am I going to be one mean sophomore.
1st Roger Shrubbery ( #### he's good)
2nd Spawn17( Host Lost Cheese person)
3rd Poika ( beatcha once yippe)
4th Apoculopse (super fun to play against)
5th Drac88 (same reasons as spawn17)
