Alrighty, Its been a while since I thought up an army worth posting, but i think Ive come up with one that has a good base and some nice variants. Ive been surprised that a fig like Erathia Stardawn has not been used more often lately, since ranged LI has become so popular. Here is the basis of the army
Ok the idea with this army is simple, Erathia Is the central peice(also a draw back) The Crystal Protector moves beside Erathia as best she can shielding the War Bard and Leige Knight which are both in contact with Erathia. The Hatchet Krugg is flanking the side that appears weakest and ready to ram then run like hell. The faith healer is right behind ready to be a sure shot backup heal. Another thought is drop the ***FH for a ** and then add a *** Leige Knight instead of the **. Sort of a death star, but still. Not my personal Favorite.
Now this one is more versitile, it can either work like the last variant, following Erathia where ever she goes, or it can move on its own while Erathia torches any formations that might be troublesome. Blade Golem for some heavy h2h support, the ESA for Wm and ME and the Amotep for long range, F/L and decent dmg. Im leaning toward this one being the best, but I dunno quite yet.
Follows Erathia at her speed and pumps her F/L up big time. Potentially dealing up to six dmg with the splash on two maybe three enemies. Similar Idea as above, but moves faster, has more protection, and has two other shooters that will get pumped up slighly.
Now I have thought of some different chargers, like Shadows, Centaur LTs, and Horned hatchet Krugg, but havent been able to decide what to use. I think I might use this in an up coming tourny so plz tell me what you think.
this army will definitely have problems with ram. and it's not just because there is only one fig with toughness (the Krugg after a few clicks). first of all, you need a charger. since the Protector and Erathia will be side-by-side, they will definitely attract rammers their way. you need to give a reason to stay away, like the threat of capture for instance.
secondly, aside from the Golem, your army has nothing with higher than 10 attack. since a lot rammers have 18 defense against ranged attacks, you will have a hard time hitting them.
third, only the Protector and the Krugg can break away easily. the the others will have to engage them in close combat.
fourth, the Crystal Protector is your only healer. if she gets rammed, there will be no one to heal her back to full health. and believe me, the Protector will be one of the first figs your opponent will try to ram.
lastly, Erathia only has 8" range. almost all rammers have 8" movement. your opponent can just dance around your 8" range and ram you at his leisure.
if you really want to play around with F/L why not a Striker or Corpheus. or if you think that's cheesy, try the Magestone Drac. you can probably squeeze him into a 200pt army.
anyway, i'll try to post an army modification soon.
Alright now that I reread my post I wasnt clear enough on how I was going to do this, Erathia will be in front with the War hatchet krugg hovering only 3 or four inches off to the side. The Amotep will be on the otherside, just barely appart from Erathia to prevent F/L itself, with the blade golem between it and the ESA who will be b2b w/ Erathia. The Crystal protector will most likely be behind them ready to heal. If Erathia should get hurt she will simply fall back and get healed. I agree I was trying to find something that could charge, but I also wanted a ME fig to improve Erathia. Most of the stuff here has relatively low def anyway so if it does get poked, I can heal it easily with the CP. The reason I dont use Corphy or Striker is one, I wanted to try something new, and two I dont have a striker. What about this:
Alright, hows this. In a straight line from front to back is, Erathia, WarBard, Faith Healer, Crystal Protector. B2Band Just slightly ahead of the warbard, and just slightly fanned out so they dont touch the FH or Crystal Protector. Moves ok now ram, charge Erathia, I dare ya, ram to knock off those nasty stats, then charge WM. Or vice versa incase of toughness. Got charge, ram, LI, healing, FM, ME. I guess F/L would hurt specially from corphy, but what ya gonna do with only 200 pts. In three hundred I could make this work real nice.
i think scholar magus bessa is a better alternative to stardawn .. but she is quite hard to acquire :( and think of toughness .. ram will be your number 1 bane on this army :( ram will knock LI out :(
Yes, but scholar mage bessa doesnt have LI, thats the main point. I have 2 of her so no shes not hard to aquire. Im not too worried about ram, if i ram w/ my own then charge and WM w/ the cavalier, opps no more ram. Plus the army is buit for speed, granted its not as fast as most GA armies, but still faster than average. Im gonna try it out in my first tourny in a few weeks but I want to hone it down to perfection. Ive already playtested it against my g/f who ist half bad herself. She's prolly gonna be in the tourny too but she wants me to build her army. I have no idea where to start. She's obsessed with sham-rin for some reason...
