When Wizkids owned Ral Partha and got to use some of the cooler sculpts they had.
Now everything is a resculpted has of something old. Now I personally liked some of the ORGINAL Rebellion figs. Like the Necro NightStalkers and Seething Knights, y'know the one with the skulls on the uniform before Wizkids got PC'ed somewhere along the line.
And the uniques, well admittedly some had issues, but those I liked were the Paladin Prince (With his now ridiculously small head. Easier to stick it up his... I suppose.) The Order of Vlad, in my humble opinion, was one of the BEST sculpted uniques of its time.
However I would've liked to see something original instead of slightly modified figs re-used...
I hear ya. Some new sculpts would be great for dungeons, and rebellion as well. The heroic quest packs could have really benifited from new sculpts too. So far, the Pyramid sculpts are looking pretty much like slightly modified figures already in production. Hopefully this will change in later expansions.
Yeah, Vladd and his pimp stick... My Nightstalkers before they looked like lame thieves... Back when my swarms of charging Elves put the fear of god into my oponents... The awesome Nightstalker sculpt.... The good old Steamer sculpt.... Did I mention the Nightstalker sculpt...
I admit that Rebellion had VERY nice sculpts. If they put as much effort into figure models for expansions as they did with unlimited, then perhaps we wouldn't be here. However, I think the issue Wizkids had to deal with was the age of players. It ranges from like 10 year olds and up. I think something also had to be said after the Shyft Matriarch **shudder**.
Don't get the Rabbidgerbal started about that reggaie cookie monster on crack!
We can complain too much, the sculpts are pretty nice, and are getting more detial, and better paint... anyone remember those first grave robbers or dwarf berserkers with a blob for faces?!
using sculpts again is cost effective like it or not, and they are trying to increase profits.
The Rabbidgerbal just wants them to not get too crazy with the numbers, when we start seeing 22 defence 15 inch bounders it's just getting out of hand.
Did you ever feel like your horses forgot how to walk?
It would be great if we could have the old sculpts with the new paintjobs' quality. One of the new sculpts I really find strange is the Blade Golem's. It looks awkward to say the least.
Like I said on another thread about reusing sculpts, I would like to see only new sculpts in new expansions or sets. Unless they release the same figure again, as we see in Unlimited.
The LEs don't need to be new sculpts IMHO, but the new figures should always be.
The Pyramids MS nons, for example. Too many old stuff. They could at least try to change the figure as much as possible (mods, nice paintjobs)
i do not like then ew blade golems sculpt it looks really ugly. But i do like the new boomer sclupt now it looks like its holding a big gun and not a vacume cleaner
Wow! A post from Perrenor!!! *looks around for that elusive Apocalypse Faction*
I have to agree. The old school WAS a lot more fun. The figs were always new for the first 2 expansions, and you could always look forward to the excitement of just duking it out. Now you have all these campaigns that are 200 point based, thus killing any ability to use any of those wonderful Conquest figs we picked up or even castle peices.... people are whining about 10" Bounders and how this fig is broken or that fig is broken... and cost effective or not, re-using all the non-uniques from Dungeons for Pyramids? I am quite dissappointed. yes I'll get my case, but I was looking forward to new sculpts. The LEs are ok, I just enjoy them as special "Named" figures, but far too much emphasis is on getting cash for the LEs instead of just playing with them... Trades have become a bother with newer people, and the games have become cut throat.... hopefully the new year will see a change back to the days of just having fun.
