Hey there fellow realmers. All my hard work paid off. We had a small turn out at the venue tonight with only 4 players! However, it was myself and 3 of the best in San Antonio TX so I figured I was done for.

I walked in to see a match just starting between two formidable players. One was playing:

KI Chariot w/ Chromozar in the passenger seat.
3 Elven Recruits
1 Standard Bearer

Unfortunately for him, his opponent was fielding:

ADrac (the bane of the Chariot!)
Astrus Lvl 2
Solonavi Channeler ***
Imp *

The ADrac army made short work of the Chariot and I'm not sure what happened except that the ADrac player won. I'm not mentioning names on purpose here!

My first match was against:

Zombie Baron
Seeker Contri Lvl 4
Jess Blaylock Lvl 4

I was playing:

Techun
Light Lancer ***
Crystal Protector **
Dwarven Ram***

I'm not much one for battle reports, but I have found that pushing to capture Jess after rammng was worth it as I rolled x2 6's. A rammer who gains LI is a bad mamajama indeed and did most of my work for the first match. I ended up killing the Baron with a well timed Techun attack and killed the Contri twice (necroed once). I didn't lose a figure, but flew on the seat of my pants the whole game. At one point the Lancer was demoralized, the Crystal Protector had taken one, the Techun was injured, and the Ram was just above toughness (and BF which would have released the captive). On the last turn I managed to heal the Lancer back to full (healed a bit on a previous turn) and charge in for the kill the second Contri on my last move!

My next match was against the ADrac player. To make a long story short, he moved in to kill my Techun thinking his healers could resue her in after he'd crippled my hitter. He hit Techun for 5. My Ram was off to the side hiding behind a wall, but was in ram range by a good inch. I ko'ed her out of dodge and then swooped in with the lancer (also off to the side) and hit for 3 more. He pushed to break, depending on his massive healers and failed knocking himself out of dodge. Next turn, I pushed both figures for the kill. The rest of the game was a chase. I ended up crippling both healers on the same turn, ramming the Imp to death and scored the killing shot on Astrus with Techun.

My first ranked game and I walked away with 918 points for 2 rounds and 2 perfect games! These really were some exceptional players.

A few months back the ADrac player used a Water Minion and Chofni to beat down and capture my Vladd and slaughter the rest of my army taking no damage at all. He's repeatedly beaten me down everytime we've played.

I see three things that made my army work well. Excellent construction which I owe to realms for shooting down ideas that would not have played well. Excellent defensive strategy which I learned from the excellent posts on realms. Finally, I owe a great deal to luck for a 2-turn elimination of the ADrac and a 2x6 on a capture of Jess.

That's all. I'm going to go pet Skyros now!

PS I can't even go to Nationals! I'm in training for 4 and 1/2 months!

Congratulations on your great win. I am glad you stuck with that army, as I thought it was pretty good. Too bad you can't make it to Nationals, though.

Way to go. Sounds like you played some great battles. Enjoy that Skyros, and wish the rest of us who haven't played our Quals yet the same luck that you had.
