Tactics and Secrets: This burly Unique is a highly mobile addition to any army. Its high speed values and Pathfinder ability give it beeline access to battlefield locations covered in hindering terrain. Use the surge proficiency to emerge from hindering terrain and ram opposing warriors up to 10" away. Given the opportunity, the Horned Hunter can use its Leadership ability to be given an action token instead of another friendly figure, preventing the friendly figure from being pushed. In the new 300-point game, the Horned Hunter is a great way to get a cheap relic-wielding warrior into your army and still have enough build total points left to support him. At 31 points, Decapitator is an inexpensive relic for the Horned Hunter to wield if you can live with the relic’s potentially devastating shortcoming
History: A forest avatar summoned forth by the potent magics of the Emerald Glade, this champion embodies the powers of nature and the ferocity of her might. While the enemies of the forest-dwellers would refer to this Elemental champion as a mere tree spirit, the priestesses of the Wylden know better. This being is capable of leading armies of Trolls, Centaurs, Sprites, Forest Elves and a host of other woodland creatures, and is respected by all for its unwavering loyalty, wisdom and his habit of tearing the heads off of enemy soldiers with his bare hands. Some Forest Elves even believe that Tezla himself manifests within these legendary warriors, and lends his magical skills to destroy the enemies of the Wylden.
Design Note: The sheer size of the Horned Hunter sculpt makes it a perfect candidate for a close combat focus, but instead its horn-wielding stance was viewed as an opportunity to promote its abilities as a leader. Players now have another way to get more from their warriors besides using expensive figures with Command. The Hunter’s speed meshes well with its Leadership ability: It can stay at maximum distance from opposing figures, yet move in to assist in close combat if needed. This Unique warrior is a great illustration of the versatility of new Mage Knight warriors.
W00T! This thing looks nice for 65 points. A good solid fighter that can also support his surrounding units. Sure to see a lot of Elemental Freehold play in the new 300 point format. Can't wait for 2.0!!
Cool, It's nice to know the Elemental Freeholds will have a few cool sculpts and potentially good figs even though they are getting dissed in the story and not getting any subfactions.
Not bad. Pathfinder, Ram, and Leadership for a fairly cheap price. Seems like he'll be pretty good at close combat too. I'm looking foward to 2.0 more and more by each preview.
