im rather angry now that wizkids wont let us use our old figures in new games. They suck. I dont want old figure games i want them together i will countinue to rant. Burn wizkids
This has made me mader then I have been in a while. This has reduced my collection to 1/5 of its size or less and I do not agree with it. All of the time I spent getting units has been invain and thus I am close to leaving the game.....this has destroyed my collection and my army building ability....it really makes me think that wizkids has forsaken the older players infavor of the new which is wrong since we make up the core of the playing group.....Wizkids, you have possible thrown a very large nail into MK's coffin.
Magic: the Gathering is the game it is today because of two things, A) Stable Game Mechanics, and B) the type rotation system.
This move will force people to find new figures to put in their armies instead of relying on the same old figures and only putting the coolest looking new ones into their armies.
Think about it. The end of Wraith armies, a death to the WHK, and the most important thing...
Worlds will be a truly innovative tournament this year! For years now we've seen the same type of armies getting to the top, using mostly the same figures. This policy will change all that, and we'll see more and more new armies, strategies, and combinations!
to an extent. I am glad it kills alot of cheese, but doesnt it really really limit the number of useable figures? how many healers are in this set? heartdrinker and the laughable war priestess? wow, thats exciting. what options

There are alternatives to using healing, including regneration, vampirism, and recursion. These should be more popular with a limit placed on healers.
Actuall, I'm about neutral on all of this. At first I was ready to go into a sputtering raging mass, but then I thought about this:
1. How much of your current armies are from rebellion? In my opinion a majority of the armies will not be immediately affected by this, with the exception of one or two pieces. I think that in theory you should be finding similar pieces in the newer sets. Yes, you have to keep buying, so stop buying a whole case every time, or just control your impulse buys. Plus, it's two years. I've been only playing for a year and a half and my armies have changed radically during that time.
2. The unrestricted events are what keeps me from flying into a frothing rage. I think it'll be fun, because I know the better players will specifically go old school for fun changes of pace. The fact that these are supported works fine for me.
Atomic: MW and HC are going to get the same treatment. they too will go to rotation at some point. I would not say they nerfed MW stuff but they have made changes to help fix some of the overpowered stuff.
Most likely they'll be re-released eventually, think about m:tg.
Old abilities make comebacks, look at Cycling and Tribal spells, these were all part of old M:tG cards but were carried out of type, then were brought back in new sets on new cards.
We'll see the return of things like Sneak Attack eventually.

While that is nice to believe it is going to be a long time before that will ever become fact if it ever does.
Actually, because Minions isn't going away yet, you get to keep using your Crystal Protectors (just about the only healers I use).
The number of "useable" figures is decreasing. But then again, how many figures in any one set are truly tournament-worthy? The changes to the rules in 2.0 made a lot of old nons much more playable, and I know that I for one have had a lot of fun the past 2 or 3 months playing my Blade Golems, Werewolfs, and Mounted Kruggs. I will mourn the loss of Techun (who had reclaimed his former glory as the supreme beatstick) and Regal Drac.
But I this will not deter me from playing. I see a lot of opportunity in the new tournament landscape, and I think that truly innovative thought will be rewarded with no small measure of success. This is the second time in 6 months that the meta-game has been turned on its head, and while that might be frightening, it opens up lots of possibilities for those who are willing to find them.
While I cannot say (yet) that I am truly happy about what is to come, neither can I say that I am outraged. Some players at the venues I frequent will be unhappy, and I have yet to talk to any of the other Warlords around here to get their opinions, I can't help but think that, over time and if WK and the MK scene survive the short term pain, this could be what makes MK truly viable over the long haul.
Just my $.02
