I was appaled in reading this post given in reply to somone who said he thought Podo had the best sculpt. We need to prove to people that Podo is not just a joke, please give some stories on how you have succesfuly used him. I had one objective token and my opponent had two, I took down the unique on the token using two zombie centaurs and with Podo, befor set retirment, I double timed him onto the token, winning me the game.
Originally posted by jag-freak Personally, I think all retired figures can burn. All of them. They have no value to me anymore. I like 2.0 better.
That is my opinion and I will stick to it.
I hate to break it to u...but there is good stuff in 1.0 too you do know? How could u hate good old stormy and the magus and all those old goodies. Granted 2.0 is quite good, but I would not say it's better, it's 2 different games.
PODO is too young to retire...he's like SQUEE of MTG...or BEAST BOY of TEEN TITANS...or like ELONGATED MAN from JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA...or like LOCKHEED of the X-MEN...or like BAT-MITE of BATMAN MYTHOLOGY...or like KRYPTO from SUPERMAN...or like ANTMAN of the AVENGERS...or like Q-BOT of the FANTASTIC FOUR...or like Mage Knight Play Testers.......all of them NOT really having a large impact to their respective fields and yet necessary...
Podo is a really great figure. For 3 points, you can't expect much, but he has shown that he is worth all 3 of those points. My Podo:
-Capatured a Hierophant, but ended up being killed
-Faced 2 critical misses in a row from an injured Temple Lord, then went on to kill it
-Claimed numerous objective tokens in many games
Death, I wasn't much for 1.0 before 2.0. I was a Dungeons player and I had the worst booster pulls. So 1.0 from my figure collection completely sucked. It was nice with Dungeons because I didn't just use MS, I used everything, and Stormy made a great piece to wipe out my Heroes.
If I could add but one thing to 2.0, it would be ME, I miss it dearly. Otherwise, 1.0 has nothing that I want. Even my Heroes, if there is a 2.0 Dungeons will probably be useless.
Granted, there are a few 1.0 figures that could be quite awesome in 2.0, I just don't have any, so to me, 1.0 is dead and over and I could care less. I have already bought just as much 2.0 as I had 1.0, and I have had some wonderful pulls.
Somehow I find it hard to believe how many people are capturing things or killing things with their Podos, we complain so much about most nons with better stats than Podo, so why can he do all that, but they can't. To me I think it is mostly BS, sorry to any of you who really did any of that, but I find it quite hard to believe. If wizkids makes anymore Podo-like figures, you can bet I won't use mine, and I will give it up in a heartbeat.
sry that you had bad pulls...i had my fair share, but in my opinion it did not deter me from the game and make me like it any less, but of course that is just an opinion. However I do agree to some extent about the podo stories being untruthful but I have seen podo do some funny things.....just like lightning hitting someone....once in a million...it will happen and we have people from all over the world on these realms.
Now that I think of it, it isn't just spite of my bad pulls that makes me hate 1.0, it is that my venue didn't start doing tourneys until 2.0 came out, so I was pretty much the only Mage Knight player, and really I still am. I still have to go find my new local venue near where I am going to college, and hope that I can find some better Mage Knight action going on out here.
Yup, my pulls and the lack of MK support around here really made me hate 1.0. Sure anyone would play a game of Dungeons, but they wouldn't play a standard game.
Those naysayers belittle the legend of Podo out of ignorance, but they cannot be held in contempt. They simply have not seen the truth for themselves, and that which is unseen is seldom believed. For the meek Podo has served many despite dire odds, and for all his minute ability, lady luck has seen fit for him to victoriously fell countless warriors of mighty repute. Podo is David to a world of Goliaths. Though he prevails only rarely, it is most often such an immense triumph that the exploit is immediately reported far and wide. Yet many still dispute these legends as myths. Let them, so that the cunning general who adds little Podo to his army can smile about what his enemy regards as fodder without perceiving the true threat contained therein. Behold, Podo is a ferocious orc in a frog's clothing. All hail Podo the Unmitigated, Podo the Underestimated, Podo the Overlooked, Podo of ONE POINT OHHHHH!!!
Podo one of the most wanted figs, if not the most wanted. I see it in so many want lists! Podo isn't just a figure, it is more then that. It's for luck and with 3 points easily to put in an army. 3 points! And he still can be used as a blocker and so. I think they should make a 2.0 Podo figure and sell them as a special figure, I think many will give much money for a 2.0 Podo.
And concerning 1.0, I think the best thing is using 1.0 and 2.0 in your army. Some figs aren'nt in 2.0, which are in 1.0. You have more cheap healers for example. And what about a chariot with Gate Lord?

Actually, it's simple. To do these things with those figures you have to use them. The current tendancy (at least in message board rhetoric) is to dismiss a figure by saying that "X" is better for only "Y" points more or "I'd never put that in my army when I could use 'Z'." Real life often doesn't work that way (I don't have "X").
However, Podo had the distinction of being the only 3 point figure. In 1.0 building your army to exactly the point total was very important (indeed, if I had to pick one thing among the many I like about 2.0, not being a slave to the build total would likely be it). If you had your army and needed 3 points, Podo. If you were 2 or 4 points short, you had to backtrack and rebuild.
Sure, a yellow Goblin Volunteer has another useful click for only 2 points more. However, he costs 5 points!
So, since he saw a lot of play, he had a chance at those long shots that stick in the memory. Sure, they happen very rarely. However, give them chances and they do happen. Don't give them chances, and they don't.
Podo was in 1.0 especially, a great figure - remember, you used to have to build exactly 200 points (one tie-breaker went to army with MOST points) and at 3 points, he made that very possible. Also, before Big Bound, he was the best sacrificial LOS blocker ever, people didn't even want to waste an action to balst him, since usually you set your big gun up behind him. Even when Big Bound came out, he could still harass, tie-up, base healers.
I used Podo im many many armies, he never did anything legendary (like capture a big piece) but he did his job, and now and then people would crit. miss trying to kill him, I awlays loved that :)
In 2.0 he can DT, which still makes him valuable, and he can still block LOS occasionally. Plus, 3 points is just funny.
