While I know that these figures would not necessarily be easy for anyone new to the game to acquire except in the secondary market, which does not profit WK at all, would it be possible to reinstate LE's as tournament legal for all retired sets.
It would be a nice gesture to 1.0 fans to bring back these figs. It would also be a way to get quite a few Magespawn back into the game.
They still would be limited such as in formations. Although all figures could surge, no other prof's would be available to them.
I wonder if bringing back 1.0 LE's could be a way to bridge 1.0 and 2.0
They could care less about those of us who have 1.0 figures.
The whole point of 2.0 was to make us buy a new set which made the old figures releatively useless.
Nothing wrong with that from a buisness stand point mind you but it is bad for customer relations.

That was rather spiteful.
The point of 2.0 was to balance MageKnight, and I for one think that they did a very nice job on it.
There's no more "Well, my army's 200 points, yours is 199, I'll wait for you to come to me because if nobody dies I win."
There's no more "I bound out 20, pop you for 5, and get levitated back behind my wall."
There's no more dominate arch-type. Of course there are cookie cutter armies, but no army is unbeatable. You want to run a 1 figure relic loaded army? Go for it, I'll just avoid you and take the objectives.
Sure, 2.0 has its flaws, but I'd rather take a game with more balanced playstyle then a game with nothing but big bound.
Anyways, rant aside, I wouldn't mind having the LE's from old sets available. Although some might not be as useful as others, it would give the players more options for army building as the point costs aren't as weird as 2.0's, and you can get some play out of the old mounted LE's that we worked so hard to aquire.
I knew this would stir up emotions in many people by asking the question. Blunt and direct answers to the question with or without emotion are expected and furthur expose the passion and or apathy we have for the game.
I am looking for arguements for and against.
What about "Retro Pacs" with new sculpts with old LE dials, if the old sculpts couldn't be found or used. Put them in blister packs or use them as prizes for unrestricted games.
I would like to see it myself. It would give the older LE's a chance at retaining their value, not losing it as they are retired. Which in turn might cause those that might not believe Mage Knight to be as collectible as it was before to feel somewhat differently about it. I honestly doubt it will happen, though.
1.0 is not supposed to work with 2.0, when wizkids made 2.0, they told us this would be a whole new game, thus the reasoning behind the retirement. I think that they didn't retire every 1.0 figure at once is a kind enough gesture.
1.0 had too many flaws to be fixed through a FAQ, so the solution would be a whole new game, which is what 2.0 has become. You really still have enough 1.0 figures to use from the unretired sets that the LEs from the retired sets really wouldn't make much of a difference.

No, this is spiteful:
MK sucks now. It's going nowhere, it had it's fifteen minutes of fame, now it's time for Mage Knight to stop being created and for it to make way for a new, good game. One NOT made by WizKidz.
"Nothing wrong with that from a buisness stand point mind..."
Well, actually, there is. It breeds distrust into your customers, errodes their confidence and loyalty towards your brand and drives them away from supporting your product.
And WK didn't refer to this as a "whole new game" until after it was released. I even recall one WK staffer (who will remain nameless) berate us (the players) for constantly refering to it as 2.0 instead of it's true name: Mage Knight.
See, it's stuff like that that causes people to question why they're buying this company's products.
If you want people to respect you, then you need to show them respect.
I've kept most of my 1.0 LEs. I break them out during unrestricted tourneys and unfortunately they get stomped by multi-factioned armies. My 1.0 LEs still hold value for me and I'd love to be able to play them even more. Still, I did not acquire them as investment grade products.
Having played Magic for many years, I think WoTC has shown that re-issuing cards (even many powerful ones, eg. Serra Angel) in new sets is a viable strategy, applauded by most players. If MK has staying power, I can see the re-release of LEs and nons, but not the most 'abusive'.
I'd love to see this happen. Will not hold my breath.:p

Or was that spiteful?
Either way. Mage Knight now= No.
I don't agrea. I think people see mk as a bad investment. With mk 1.0 being "retired" which to collectors may have well been banning.. the value of 1.0 figures has plumetted.
People were happy to buy old 1.0 minis because they were under the illusion(Myself included) that wk would always let us use the minis. Well, that changed with the "retirement" of 1.0. People became dis-enchanted with the game and now wk suffers for it.
Would the reinstatement satiate alot of 1.0 players. No, the damage has already been done. unless a miracle happens wk is going to ride this game into the ground.
There is also 1 other factor. Failures such as cr***y freaks and shaddow rule duels are also partly responsible for the mk fall as wk just siphons money from MK to counter that loss.
So to recap... 1.0 players are going to be unhappy because they feel betrayed. Failed product lines hurt wk. So unless NEW players start flocking to mk.. wk is going down the proverbial toilet.

Perhaps you did not read the Ask Draddog thread, but many times he said that 2.0 will be a new game. Most of thos posts are deleted now, so I really can't prove anything.
And I see some of you are talking about reinstating, and others are talking about rereleasing. Wizkids would only ever do a rerelease, just for the same reason we don't do pure faction tournaments, new players.
Releasing 2.0 and banning all the old figures made me quit. I might have kept playing, but to me the game took a massive drop in quality when 2.0 came out.
