Coming to you from the only independent reporting source in all the land, deep in the Ailons, breaking news brought to you by Lord Chaos.
****
Thanks, Morgarius. It's good to be here. I'm glad to share some of the inside knowledge only those with my particular skills can learn. Remember, the walls have ears!
On to the report - I've been watching those witless flag-wavers fighting over that big lump of rock for weeks now. With results still coming in from throughout the land, exit polls are showing a fairly decisive picture in this heated race.
The obvious losers are those hapless Atlantean 'big government' sheep. With less than 100 'votes' so far, they are clearly the followers and not the leaders. It's clear from this poor showing that the general populace is looking to 'trim the fat' from large empires this year.
Not coming in quite last are those loveable good-guys that almost everyone seems to prefer to beat down. All three of the clean-cut candidates; the Elven Lords, Elemental Freeholders and the Black Powder Revolutionaries are placing near the bottom of the heap this year, with the BPR trailing the lot. The Elven Lords are leading the losers by edging out their supposed 'allies' by a single percentage point.
Suprisingly, the relatively unknown Solonavi faction is coming in 4th. These power-brokers obviously are on their way up the political ladder, but are lacking the ooomph needed to really place this year. Watch out for them in the future, though!
Next place is a sad story of failed ambitions on the part of the Orc Khans. These bad boys came on strong at the beginning of the race, but due to disagreements and possibly some cannibalism, destroyed their own chances at real glory. If the greenies want to be serious rulers they're going to have to get their chickens in a row... and stop eating them.
Coming in second with some truly heinous back-stabbing are the ghouls you love to hate, the Dark Crusaders! Proving once again that they're not dead yet, their sinister and cunning political maneuvers almost, but not quite, put the evil ones on top.
Finally, the leading candidate. With grace, power and unmitigated style, these honorable loners are proving to be the crowd favorite. Everyone knows how they overcame their tough childhood, and that seems to have swayed opinion in favor of the powerful and mysterious Draconum! Their ancient ways look like they're going to earn them access to the floating rock for the forseeable future.
To sum up, this whole race seems to have been driven more by popularity than skill. Nevertheless, it's been amusing to watch all that carnage. I think it's time to send in the Shadows to clean up the mess...
I'll sign off here, leaving you with the current tally. Until next time, let Chaos reign!

Down with the Drac.... Bring the power where it deserves to be...
And how can ignorance rule in third in the forms of Orcs...
Just look at current political trends like the US.... er wait....
Russ.,... er nope can't go there either... now I understand why orcs and DC can be so high

PS Please excuse the politcal commentary it was a joke...
Dracs, it's time to pimp out a low-riding citadel.
Magestone chain steering wheel.
Alpine stereo.
Neon.
Hydrolics.
Kick some serious ponies into the engine.
And paint them flames.
Yeah.
Yeah, I actually played AE myself, but later found that my faction choice on Wizkids site was what would be used. Seems it was truly a popularity contest with each win giving you one 'vote' for your chosen faction. Ah well. I'd like to see future faction wars won by skill, not popularity or prize-seekers.

Yeah.
You forgot the fuzzy elf heads hanging from the rear view & the goblin bobble head for the dash. Mind you, the goblin is alive, and he bobbles his head in fear of his life when ever a Drac comes into the room...
By the way, if anyone is wondering where I came up with the numbers...
I used addition, a fast internet connection and several hours of obsessive/compulsive fervor to check all the Faction Wars events results entered so far...
So these aren't the final numbers, but I suspect there will be little difference when the final results are posted.
Ha I knew the DC could pull it off. There were way too many people going for the Dracs, so I figured they would have this, but I thought second would be between the DC and the OK...and congratulations DC. Too bad we don't get a second place prize.
Sadly I didn't have the chance to participate in Faction Wars...so I really can't say much there.
The faction war results did'nt shock or surprise me at all - heres a break down OF MY OPINION of why things went the way they did listing each faction in order of worst to greatest (as depicted by faction war). I played draconum and mopped up in the faction war after a krosak missed its mark and Vithzerai destroyed him!
1. Atlantean Empire
Once they were one of the strongest and most powerful 1.0 factions. Story wise - they were actually a more hated faction as they were the sole reason of the BP revolution. Now in 2.0 they have the highest percentage of the weakest and least versitile figures in the game, making them last on the totem pole. Wizards may make a comeback in sorcery but untill then they suck. Golem core is really, really bad.
2. Black Powder Rev
Loved by all in 1.0 they lacked alot of power - now in 2.0 they were mostly restricted to figures that moved 6" (dwarves) and only semi playable uniques (black thorn / wyn)- Dark riders gave this faction a huge boost in the way of steam tinkerers and mounts - but It came way too late. The new set will see that these guys have more play - anti magic immunity is good. Other then that the other faction abilities are not on figs useable enough to warrant much of a bonus
3. Elemental Freeholds
Ah the treehuggers of ancients past. In 1.0 these guys were decent - In 2.0 these guy were almost non-existant. After Dark riders this faction got a huge boost in numbers but like atlanteans these guys trully lack any true power as they have mostly non-agresive defensive abilities. Yes the skydragons are good. But that and emerald / host is all you really get. Good faction bonus but needs to be on better units. Until then an army that tries to kill me with chicken men is doomed befor it even makes its first attack roll.
4. Elven Lords
Archers, archers, archers - these guys were strong ground pounders but never really versitile in 1.0. Now they have a plethera of strong small to mid ranged costing units that don't amount to anything really special. I've said it before and I will say it again - wizkids mixed kahn rava's and starsdon's dial. The elves are the king of archers - except the best one of all of course. and since all archers (except the one that counts) don't seem to be really good right now ... oh and both faction abilities blow. A lot of people really seem to like these guys but since thay are so weak its hard to compete. They should make the sky griffon tournament worthy. Then erratta it to make it good. Good thing this is the cheapest titan ever - just incase save your money for a real unit.
5. Solonavi
Fast and powerful - just like the draconum solonavi were really cool in 1.0. In 2.0 there is varatrix and the other guy... and the other guys greater/lesser LE clone - oh and some foot men things that no one ever pla- I take it back let me start over-
Fast and powerful - just like the draconum the solonavi have varatrix. And not enough of anything else -this guy is really good and very cool - so cool he seems to take forth all by himself - good job V !
6. Orc Khans
Not really all that special in 1.0 but these guys really seem to shine in 2.0. Fast, cheap, high damage - these guys are exactly what they should be + khan rava who makes them almost not even comparable to the other races before them. Both faction abilities are really good and playable here.
7. Dark Crusaders
What can't I say - they are cool, fast, very versitile and have really well pointed strong figures that cover ever spectrum of the different point ranges, and thats just from the 2.0 set alone! In 1.0 they seemed to have more then their share of useful abilities too! I actually thought that these guys were going to win the faction war as they seem to be the best faction overall (again my opinion) Again - the more useful the faction ability the better the faction seems to be here and both are used heavily (especially revanant) and neither are wasted ever on any figure unlike some figs...
8. Draconum
Big expensive, strong, and rarely more then one every see's play in the same army. They are really the only faction that did't really change at all from the 1.0 to 2.0 transition except now they look way cooler. Even the supporting whelps and scale sworns aren't that bad in 2.0. As an exception to the rule this faction has no faction abilities ... yet
Conclusion
Ya the first four factions seem to lack any semblance of true power. I actually expected the Draconum, solonavi, DC, and orcs, to take the top four spots but I didn't quite know the exact order or which faction would win - untill now ! ;)
not surprising at all, Orcs are right in the rear view mirror (and objects are closer than they appear to be)
Anyway, everyone fears Rava or Harrowblade (can't count how many times he's whacked Kossak or when of those wimpy Dracs for 8), no matter what the stats show...
And everyone is really fearing the return of Podo...so, number 1 for causing fear, Orcs!
