True. There seems to be a pattern, however.
It looks like each set released has retired the next set in order. Pyramids is due to be retired with Omens. Uprising should be retired with the next set and then Dragon's Gate will be on the block for the set after that.
Didn't they say that the plan was to have only the newest base set plus the 3 newest expansions be the only non-retired sets?
I'm betting that all things 1.0 will be retired with omens (I'm guessing they didn't retire Pyramids with sorcery is because they wanted a Dungeons base set legal while they still had an expansion for it legal as well).

Assuming I cut and pasted the quote correctly, my previous post is supported by the last sentence of paragraph 2.
Apparently I didn't cut and paste correctly (stupid computer stuff), but this is in the news/press release section, posted on Feb 16, 04
I think Uprising will be retired with Omens, not the set after Omens. After Omens there will be a base set and three 2.0 expansions. As for Pyramid, I suppose that could be retired with Omens too, but we will have to see what the plans are for Dungeons.
However, WizKids has also stated that they plan on having a tournament lifespan of 2 1/2 years for a base set and 2 years for an expansion.
Dragon's Gate was released in the summer of 2003, IIRC. If so, that would mean that it should be tournament legal until the summer of 2005, roughly.
The dungeons sets do complicate things, a bit. WizKids had been releasing 2 Dungeons sets a year and 2 regular MK sets a year. It's not at all clear how Dungeons will be affected by retiredment. Maybe Pyramids and Uprising will be retired with Omens.
I'm away for the holidays, so I don't have my usual high speed connection. Can someone look up the exact release dates for Pyramids, Uprising & Dragon's Gate?
I know that we can expect MK 2.0 to be retired about spring 2006 (released in Nov 2003, with a 2 1/2 year expected lifespan), Dark Riders about the same time, Sorcery in the summer of 2006 and Omens about spring of 2007.
