i do have Kem and the gateshield a couple of month now in my collection and never played them. on tuesday we will play
again (after a break for a few month) and i want to play kem, monks blade and the gateshield. so heres my army i designed:
oracle of rokos * 40pts
- tome of weirding
- call familiar
- bonestrike
- SoInvocation 5 pts
darc crusader *** 29 pts (familiar)
2* werewolf * 22 pts
total: 399 pts
domains: countering domains
terrain: hindering
(need to state that i wanted to build a "black"-looklike army, without mixing something like orcs and EL ...)
monks blade pushes up kem and makes him nearly unaccessible for ranged attacks. casting bonestrike on him will give him that nasty melee touch. so he charges in with 13 attack, parry and counterattack and a 20 def/magic immune and reducing bow attack. bonestrike allows him to negate damage by an eventually first strike from any melee-beast. (i think kem with these styrenes is a very nasty combo)
mock is the gateshield-pusher. i think this relic boosts his def-weakness (so then 18 parry) and gives him +2 on speed to play his gateshield-role better. PoD for some help in attacking.
the dc and werewolfs are for harassing, occupiing markers (which is important for gateshield), bodyguards and attacking
(ww). the ww can be summonend back and deathspeeking by the dc. these 3 start the main attack, kem following, mock for support/bodyguarding/gateshielding.
oracle of rokos: i think i have to take care on her, cause she is important to keep the dc alive and due to her stats. summoning, a 12" range, counterspelling, thats what shes good for. ghostform should prevent her from ranged-attacks.
on setup, this army does not care very much on opponents range. 2 times ghostform, kem hard to shoot and all others with stealth out there
healing: most of the time i play armies without healers, so i am not scared by that. and i think theres not very much to be healed (kem no MH, dc and ww are summoned back, there only would be mock

so thats contri replacing OoR and a gremlin against a ww. reduces the sharpness a little bit, but contri has a higher attack and is a little bit a better caster/ranger and the idea still there.
