Malava gets summon after some clicks and then can use this to summon Swordbane back.
The Black Knight has extreme defense and attack:
-Attack: 12 + 2 from relic and all 1's are 6's
-Defense: 19 + invulnerability.
So if he stands next to malava he has 24 defense against ranged attacks (19 +2invulnerability +3 from kosian shieldtome)
Swordbane has some good abilities and can rush in, cuz if he dies he can be summoned back later.
The 3 zombie centaurs are there to get some core troops for low cost.
The sky dragon and Regal skymage are there for their speed.
The khamsin trooper I have cuz I had 20pts left and don't have many other figs under 20pts. I could use decapitator instead of caeron luckblade and get some better fig, but when I would roll a 2 with the black knight that would cost me a lot of points.
Summon just for a swordbane seems inefficient to me. Also, the swordbane is a good defensive piece, but it is slow and is at best a mediocre attacker. For MS, I'd drop the swordbane and go with either swarmilings (for attack) or blackwings (for pure harrassment).
As for 20pt fillers, I'd go with the *Golem Familiar. It is Imperial Legion and has demoe'd halfway through its dial so it can use Rally to get back to it's starting click. It can be very annoying to kill and near impossible for a fig with 2 dmg.

I've never really played with summon, but I like this army. Especially the Black Knight.
well as I said I don't have any other fig of 2.0 that's below 20 points, or they are worse.
Maybe I could get something other though when I put swordbane out.

Black Knight will not get +3 defense from Kosian Shieldtome.
And Hero_guy is correct, replace Swordbane with something more effecient.
For a 600-point army, add a healer, so if things get rough for you in the middle game, you have something to fall back on.
Healers are neccissary in my opinion. Not having one means that your abilties to do damage control are minimal.
I looked at the swordbane, and I concur with both Dragon and Hero_Guy. It's not worth the points. The attack of the Swordbane is too low in my opinion.
Actually I think the Shamans are probably would be your best choice. With the :hspeed: speed type, they break away on anything except a 1. They are about the same pts as the War Priestess. Ciara is a ok piece. But cavalry units as a general rule are really made for offense. You can field Ciara without a mount, but she's 51 pts while the Centaurs are about 40 (iirc). You can save a few points and they both have magic healing anyways. As for the War priestesses...well they are ok, but honestly they can't defend themselves too well, and if based, they have only a 50% to break away.
This being said, I do not believe that healers are a must for any army 500pts or less. There are basically 2 ways to win. Attrition - that is to have your army keep taking damage and either healing it or summon/necromance pieces back for more. Or bloodshed - that is to beat your opponent senseless. For the latter you will want to choose high attack and high damage pieces. There are plenty of these around also, if you know where to look.
