During a game this weekend We had a instance where a injured plane was within the rear arc of another plane. It states in the rules you get a bonus for firing into the rear arc of the enemy. The injured plane had a gunnery value of 0. Would the injured plane be able to roll 1 die (0 value + 1 for the bonus) or would the injured plane not be able to roll any due to having a 0 gunnery value?
Well, the rules say if you have a non-0 rear gunnery value, you can take a shot. Then, 3 paragraphs later, you check to see if you're firing into your opponents rear arc. So by the letter of the rules, I'd say NO, you can't take the shot, because you don't meet the non-0 requirement. The check for rear arc doesn't occur until after you determine if you can take a shot at all.
I'd have to say "if you have a zero gunnery value, you have no freakin' gun."
The plus-one is a BONUS, not a gunnery value in and of itself. Theoretically, the other way, I could magically make guns appear if I pointed my plane in the right direction, in the right place in the formation ... and that ain't right.
If you could get the bonus for a Zero Gunnery skill, then planes with no rear gun to start with could rear arc a plane from the rear and get the bonus, which would be wrong.
So I say that you can't give either rear arc or point blank bonuses to a Zero Gunnery Skill.
Topcow,
It may be possible to edit posts for a very short time after you make them, but due to people abusing post edit, it has been severely limited on all the Realms/WizKids sites.
Oh, well I hadn't checked for it.
Last time I wanted to edit a post here, Edit was still Full On.
I just wish people hadn't abused it in the first place.
its for scoring purposes. If ALL pilots are shaken no points are scored. This pilot, although not being able to do any damage besides collision, still counts for scoring
