For a long while I've decided to lay low. I'm not really interested in Solaris, for various reasons, and I'm not that into Halo Action Clix, but I have alot vested in Mechwarrior and am eagerly awaiting any word on the return of Combined arms, but this latest craze on realms and the wizkids thread is really infuriating me.

and I'm looking at YOU. The Rabid Fans. Get a grip. Instead of taking a possible opportunity to grow your fanbase (which GOD knows that mechwarrior needs) you've just ruined it for everyone. Yes RUINED. and I hate using strong language, but you guys need to just grow up.

Instead of using the opportunity for getting new players and new people to the universe reading again, you've just had to raise a funk. Besides the fact that most fictional people change and in the context of games have different facets. (i.e. luke skywalker at various points in the trilogy, let alone people who've changed sides frequently various gaming systems have stats for different parts of their lives), you had to have it YOUR way.

YOU could have used the opportunity to tell a new player.. hey you know what.. that pilot was the blah blah balh of clan wolf after she was a merc, you know what.. you should read the books, but instead.. now all we get is whine whine whine.

so great, instead of more tie ins to the past and giving new people who play mechwarrior to perhaps READ the books and get into it (hopefully not as much as you guys) we get band members and people who go to tournaments as pilots..

We're supposed to care about the books??!? Oh, well I'll just have to start readin' then, won't I? And here I was, thinking the fluff was just extra, superflous to the actual play of the game. Silly me.

So your upset that other people are upset....If WK had just done the right thing first, then no one would have cared. I don't care either way, but before you put everything on the "fans" you may want to look at the company, who gives no info about current releases (solaris product info updated 2 weeks after it was out), upcoming releases (Wolf spiders, wolf dragoons AP). And yet its the passionate "fans" of the game who still want something. No offense but WK better start doing something to get their ship upright and moving again or no one will be left to care what pilot cards are released, would you rather have that?

That is the point. There is no right way to do some characters unless you only use a snapshot. We had a golden opportunity to show new players that this character had not only a long history in the CBT world but also that she really lived two different lives. We could have pointed them to various subsections of her life to show this. What happened? Some players only focused on limited part of her life. Be it her final 7 years with Clan Wolf or the preceeding 40+ years as a merc.

Our passionate fans are both a blessing and a curse much like the sometimes disfunctional and conflicting fictional universe that surrounds this game.

I see this as the end of historical pilots. (As Kelly as stated) I'm not wondering whether this is also not the end of pilots that were introduced in the fiction too. This isn't the first time this issue has come up.

We as a community need to focus more on fellowship and bringing in new players and not on fighting with WK or fighting with each other.

I would like to thank everyone who wrecked it for those of us who actually enjoyed the historical pieces! This once again shows no matter how Wizkids does something, no matter how good they think it is, they simply cannot please everyone. I don't know why they every bother to try with how thankless some in this community can be at times.

Today is a sad, sad day for the community. Today is the day the players killed any chance of historic pieces being released again.

I just don't get the whole "it would have ruined game balance" arguement, as for not giving her the CW 0 recruit.

So I take it we should deny that she was Clan Wolf before she was SENT ON A MISSION FOR CLAN WOLF. That is the point we the FANS only wanted the Unit done right. And that does mean you show her entire history. NOT just what you think it is but what is writtten. If you cant understand that she AND the rest of the Dragoons were not mercs, that they were uncercover for the CLANS SPYING on the Inner Sphere then You prove my point that WK has done a bad job with this unit. Yes the Dragoons worked as mercs but they were not truely mercs they were spies for the CLANS. Read the Dragoon history before you past judgement. If they produced a Victor and made him Liao would you not voice your feeling and thoughts if he was a unit you really wanted because you liked his storyline AS it was written?
Now you want to blame those of us that voiced our feelings on this matter, ok do so no one is stopping you. But if WK had done the right thing with all these units from CBT history then well there would be no problem. The problem comes from some one taking creative rights with units that have are ready been around for over 23 years. If they wanted a new pilot or to change an old one WK should have created a new one. I ohter words changed the name started all over just as they did with the rest of the G/S unit they made up.
When you take on the job of producing something that has already been created you take on the job of doing it right. And yes that means just as it is written. Other wise it is not a unit from history it is a farse.
WE the Rabid fans do love this game and maybe that is why we are so anal about the fluff. Because with out the fluff of this game it is just plastic army men. Attacking those of us that voice feeling or thoughts is not helping anyone. But if you must you can blame it all on me I guess.

I have never once said the WK is bad or never in the thread about Natasha anyone bashing WK.
I think we all think WK is doing a good job. But if they never hear the bad with the good what does that do to the game?
But attacking each other now will do no one any good on either side. We need to build this game back into what it once was. A fun well loved and popular game and attacking each other will never get that done.

Frankly, I agree entirely with MechThran, Cavingjan, akhad612, Blanner and anyone else who is saddened by the loss of historical characters being released in the future.

Many of us have played CBT for years and looked forward to seeing Hanse Davion in an Atlas or Thomas Marik in something, I don’t know maybe a Marauder 2C. Would have been FUN.

I have played CBT since 1986 and have my original 3025 Technical Readout all taped together, but still readable.
My passion for “giant robot games” is BIG, but the silliness of the “my faction should have a zero RC for my faction or it should not be released/played or whatever” is just plan dumb. It is BAD for the game as a whole and will drive away newer players and keep away older players who would consider coming back to get the card of one of the greatest Mechwarriors of all time.
Do I agree all of the time with WK? Nope, I do not.
But, I do not whine about units and cards. Personally, no unit/card combo is “broken” anymore. With the increase in Army build size, PC cards that can counter Evade/Decoy/Artillery and Long-range units and the introduction of the Mech Assault Order, I have yet to see an army that can truly NOT be beaten. Will an Army combination dominate the game for a while? Yes it could. But it makes us push each other as players to create counters and better builds.
Bottom line for me is, PLEASE DO NOT STOP making historical pilot cards.
Keep the game FUN and entertaining.

I'd rather have no historical mechs than have ones that aren't made correctly.

I guess then that makes the possibility of pilots, for those of us who started in Dark Age and have stuck through it entirely due to various reasons of not playing CBT, returning from that era now also nulled. ::Sighs::

hey people, after a long vacation from mechwarrior...I'm kinda back but I'm not sure yet...so tell me whats going on in this thread? somethin bout Kerensky, she was killed at some point? and she was a merc and leader of the Wolfs? I dunno some one enlighten me I'm a Kurita/Fury person so I dunno the whole story right now.
