Yeah, I don't see why not. Children of the Atom would resolve first as the chain works back, so by the time Finishing Move kicks in it no longer has a legal target (target stunned character) and therefore fails. As previously established, effects check for legality before resolving.
________ REVIEW VAPORIZER
Yes but let's break it down and get you to use the correct terminology. This will help you in future timing issues:
Wolvie is stunned, opponent plays Finishing Move targeting Wolvie.
This puts an effect on the chain that says "KO stunned Wolverine."
Your opponent passes priority to you.
You play Children of the Atom and target Wolverine.
This puts an effect on the chain that says "Recover Wolverine."
You pass priority to your opponent.
He passes without playing any other cards or generating any other effects.
Now the chain resolves, working its way backwards through the effects:
1) CotA checks to see if Wolverine is in play, an X-Man and stunned. This proves to be the case so it resolves and Wolverine is recovered.
2) Finishing Move checks to see if Wolverine is in play and stunned. While he's still in play, he's no longer stunned and is therefore an illegal target. The effect is negated.
Excellent! Thanks for the legality breakdown (okay, the terminology breakdown), Zaxx. That will help as we start getting more people playing and looking at running tournaments.
Needless to say, my friend said, "Nice move!", a small pause, then, "Hey...."
